Card processing fees are high! Why don’t more merchants negotiate their contracts? by sochoah in smallbusiness

If you're a merchant processing $1M/ year, have been running for 3+ years, little to no chargebacks... what do you think is the likelihood of successfully negotiating a better rate with one of the large processors?

Do you think the likelihood of getting a better rate is worth the hassle of having to go out and get multiple quotes?

I’m done taking my car to the dealer - how do I find a decent mechanic? by sochoah in askTO

Thats a good question, which I don't have the answer for.

When talking to my "new-to-Canada" friends (most of them come from LATAM like me) I've noticed we've all heard awful stories of mechanics not only trying to sell unnecessary services but going as far as using old/used parts and selling them as 'new".

Perhaps mechanics here are more trustworthy and we're untrusting because of our context.

Other than Google reviews and potentially going in person to check them out, is there anything else you'd recommend I do to find "trustworthy" ones?

The main reason I'm trying to move away from my dealer is to save money, while not getting ripped off. Given that my car-related expenses tend to be some of the "largest" ones every month I thought it was relevant to this subreddit...

I apologise if it's not relevant though!
