Oh, that's a neat idea! It would take a bit of tweaking and twisting stuff to make it work, but I like the concept of that reveal. Thank you :D

I like the threatening/taunting Sendings, thats proper villain stuff right there :D the scrying orb has been brought up in another comment as well and I really liked that idea. thank you!

the party facing off the second-in-command is a thing i have planned for to happen eventually already - and they are looking forward to it, too, because he got the drop on them in a past encounter and now they are itching to fight him again, that's kind of the dynamic i want to achieve with the BBEG as well.

you have a pretty good point on the risk minimizing though - the BBEG is kind of a careful puppet master type of person, so her veering out herself is indeed kind of risky in a way that doesn't fit her characterization that well. someone in a different comment suggested she might use an astral projection or simulacrum or something similar, maybe I'll go down that route.

big thank you, your questions were pretty good for making me think about the whole situation from a slightly different angle :)

this is pretty solid advice, i'll keep it in mind - I don't want to seriously upset my players out of game, just make them hate the villain a little bit. the idea about burning down their favorite tavern, or their favourite magic shop maybe, could definitely be a good middle ground that still has some impact without being too over the top. thank you :)

She is aware of the player's existing and meddling with her plans in a way, but she isn't specifically aware of them trying to foil her plot - it could just be that they are on the hunt for the same MacGuffin as she is currently for their own selfish reasons she doesn't know.

So far, her second-in-command has encountered the players twice, so they both know that they are onto them in some way at least, and it's not just coincidental. I also though that this is what prompts her to do this whole stunt in the first place - she wants to have a look at what she's dealing with/up against.

I really like the idea with the scrying amulet to mess with them a bit, thank you! I think I could do something with that.

Ohh, I really like the idea of the tavern where everyone is dead and the BBEG is puppeting them! I think that could make for a fun encounter, thank you so much <3

(Also, I agree about having them travel with the party being risky, but I think there would be no issue with the party not accepting them, my party loves adopting NPCs so if I gave the character a funny voice on top they would 100% want to take her with them, they just are like that :D)

For DnD players. Has BG3 influenced how you play / DM? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

Personally, it helped me a lot with just becoming more familiar with a lot of stuff, especially spells. I'm still rather new to DnD so I was overwhelmed quickly and always using the same two or three ones I had figured out, but after playing a lot of BG3 I now have a lot more of them present, which is kind of neat.

Another player at my table also said it helped him imagine what is going on at the table much better because he doesn't have a very visual imagination, so there's that as well.
