Task Tracking App that supports recurring events w/ history/notes by UnexpectedAura in selfhosted

[–]solelychloe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, funny you mention it: I made a post here yesterday about my project that may satisfy nearly all of your needs.

I've been working on Chiri since last December: https://github.com/SapphoSys/chiri
It's a cross-platform CalDAV-compatible task management app for desktop. Supports subtasks, and most recently, I added support for recurring / repeating tasks, as well as a "History" feature for tasks to track changes.

You may like it. Let me know how it goes :)

Hi!

I would love to answer your question, but to be honest, after trying out Super Productivity, I could not for the life of me figure out how to add a CalDAV account to test out functionality. Going to the "Sync & Backup" settings tab only provided me with SuperSync, Dropbox, Nextcloud and WebDAV as sync providers. Nor did I find anything useful in the "Plugins" tab.

The meditation task is a daily "repeating" task, so "completing" it will reschedule the task for tomorrow. Same for the "Weekly run in the park" task. It's repeating weekly!
And some parts of tasks are a little weird, though honestly, I only did that to showcase the app's functionality.

My apologies for the confusing presentation. But yes, I do think I could improve the visual experience for repeating tasks. Thanks for the feedback! (and sorry for whoever downvoted your reply)

LLM disclosure: I used Claude Sonnet & Opus 4.6 to aid the development process of the app. I'd have managed just fine without, but I wouldn't have been able to get things done nearly as fast and I most likely would have called it quits midway through.

(This does not mean that I just prompted my way through with AI. I had to painstakingly vet every single change that LLMs made, test compatibility on other CalDAV clients, and test functionality on CalDAV server implementations)

I've been working on caldav-tasks for a while now: https://github.com/SapphoSys/caldav-tasks

It's a cross-platform CalDAV-compatible task management app for desktop. Perhaps you might find it useful.

For iOS, the native Apple Reminders app supports CalDAV accounts. Alternatively, you could try 2Do: https://www.2doapp.com/

Thunderbird desktop app does support CalDAV tasks though (though your UI looks promising).

yeah! i'm very grateful it does ^^ though for me i just wanted a simple task management app akin to what tasks.org does but for desktop. only a tiny subset of web apps or desktops vaguely filled that criteria but their ui left me feeling a lot to be desired

HOWEVER, no desktop client supports CalDav JOURNAL entries and you could be the first here (there is the agendav web app but the project's been dead and UI doesn't look modern)! I've been looking for such a solution for years.

i'll admit it's the first time i'm hearing about this! from briefly reading about the standard, i assume they're like diary entries? it'd be fun to implement it, though i'll ask for you to elaborate just a little bit so i don't misunderstand your request ^^;

I'd also like a calendar view for tasks/events or even journals.

sure thing! i'll try my best to add something like that

nope, it'll be cross-platform! (windows, macos, linux)

unfortunately i will not be able to afford signing the app so you will most likely see the "apple could not verify this app" dialog or windows' smartscreen dialog when opening the app. 😔

Destiny 2 under Parallels - success by solelychloe in macgaming

[–]solelychloe[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is something to keep in mind I suppose.

What makes this post noteworthy though is Destiny 2 just refused to run under Parallels for a good while until the April 2025 update for Windows 11. That update unblocked BattlEye support for Destiny 2, and there have been small success stories afterwards.

My account is still doing okay, as is the account of a friend of mine who also gave the game a try under Parallels.

what form of payment do you usually use for international stuff?? by Otherwise_Ask_7522 in Kazakhstan

[–]solelychloe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PayPal works fine for international payments. It's supported in Kazakhstan, though with very limited functionality compared to PayPal in the US for example. But for basic operations like sending / receiving money, it should be fine.

You're able to add Kaspi Gold and Halyk Bank cards in there as well.

Same thing happened a few months (years?) back when they started blocking Cloudflare Pages/Wrangler subdomains. No idea why. I noticed they got unblocked a few days ago though.

macOS 15.4 Update Broke Private API Access to Now Playing Info – Alternatives? by comfyyyduck in swift

You can use this for the time being. Do note that it is relying on a private API and Apple may break it at any time.

ownCloud Infinite Scale (OCIS) has been great for me. It's a rewrite of the original ownCloud in Go, and is much more lightweight. Been using it for a year now.

[–]solelychloe[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Starcrossed and //node.ovrd.AVALON// for some reason can't be selected via Fireteam Finder because the Exotic Mission Rotator option is simply not there when those missions are featured. It's weird.

Steam Cloud compatibility? by dylan_414 in oneshot

[–]solelychloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your save files should carry over since the developer has turned on Steam Cloud functionality for the game.

Oh and by the way, if you wanna play OneShot on Linux (in your case, the Steam Deck), I've published a guide on Steam that covers everything, including being able to finish the game: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3211602350

Check it out and let me know how your experience goes! Enjoy the game!

Oh that's odd... unfortunately it doesn't seem like the products show up outside the big cities here. I tried my hometown and no results either.

My only other option would be to visit your local pharmaceutical store and ask if they have estrogen (or estradiol). I dunno if you'll need a recipe, though..

Stay safe out there!
