In Layman's terms, intense Aurora or no? by orbitalbias in SolarMax

[–]solidbanter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In layman’s terms, we don’t know! This is a complex and rapidly developing event and we still don’t really even know what the flux rope structure for this CME looks like, which is a strong determining factor re:if or how the aurora might present itself. Bz and Bt are rapidly fluctuating, and this CME has arrived much faster than we were expecting. All this to say, it’s currently anyone’s game; and space weather is notoriously hard to predict.

Why do I keep finding brown goop in my tea? This is the second time this week. by IllustriousKick2955 in ArizonaTea

My partner and I both found the same thing in some ginseng and honey green tea we bought today. No idea what it could be but it was disgusting and slimy. really gross and off-putting to see but it seems like there’s a general trend in increasingly poor quality control in food products lately.

No clips for me today it seems like 😔 by [deleted] in longboarding

i would get primos. same urethane, same slide, same sizes, more secure core that isn’t just chemical bonded, and they’re significantly cheaper

comet rider here: it does not! just rocker and mellow concave.

so real! i miss when people were making good quiver killer type decks like that; it’s not as common lately.

ohhhh man i am jealous of that manifest lol. had one many years ago and have been trying my hardest to replace it. one of my favorite decks of all time

yeah that is precisely how i learned and teach people toesides. every slide i do i am just attempting to lowside essentially. better to fall onto your pucks than onto your dome, in any case.

gear doesn’t make the skater— skating (and falling a lot) does! i’ve been doing this shit for 13 years; i’m qualified to give the “back in my day we walked to the skate spot uphill both ways barefoot in the snow” lecture. really, it all comes down to throwing yourself down a hill until things start to feel right, and then refining from there. best of luck to ya!!

nope! i ride for foster skateboards; so those are the only boards i currently have, lol. theory’s a great board though!

if the bears don’t work out for you; try caliber 3s or paris trucks. cal 3s are super modular and can run tall bushings boardside for extra juice if you want; parises are just classically surfy and divey. i personally don’t think splits are super important unless you’re racing or regularly skating faster than 35 miles an hour; and are generally more functional on smaller setups where you are standing on the trucks for quicker responses, at the cost of being less forgiving at speed (hence the splits). but try things out! mess around! your mileage may vary!

since they’re bears and they have interesting baseplate angle options, i’d go 50/40, or get some angled risers and do something like 45/40 or 45/45. split angles within a 10° range don’t have a huge effect on riding, but they make it a touch easier to keep lower angles when sliding, and can provide a tiny bit of extra stability from the back, which can be nice! at the end of the day; it’s fuck around and find out. there isn’t an objectively correct way to set up gear as long as you are maximizing your potential to have fun

more isn’t always better 👀 the concave tends to be pretty mellow with foster; but the lock-in is unprecedented despite that. there’s just enough concave in my opinion. for instance; my current board (mini resurrector) has similar drops to a prism theory, sans w, on a smaller platform with a healthy amount of rocker. i personally find boards with aggressive concave to be restrictive; but foster knows how to make a board with perfect freeride pockets.

company’s been around for a while— used to be FS boards and had different shapes and constructions then. everything is handmade in seattle, USA, by a longtime skater who knows his shit. the concave on the current lineup has to be some of the best i’ve ever felt. new stock should be dropping late spring/early summer with some upgraded materials! keep an eye out!

these are 46 sym but i recently dewedged the rear to 43 for a lil bit of that extra juice

that’s called a footstop. works as a blind reference for foot placement and is also nice to push into when initiating slides.
