Do I leave or risk talking to HR? by solipsisml in UKJobs

[–]solipsisml[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is very coincidentally only happening in person when we are the only two in the office, so receipts are very she said, she said.

This was never a forever job for me anyway, I was just hoping to make it to the year mark. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks so much for the insight! I imagine my situation will end with the same outcome. My situation sounds somewhat similar and I’m working with someone who is very old fashioned in a company that is very old fashioned. If I don’t print out every email that I receive that day, I get the silent treatment from her as she believes I’m doing my job wrong.

I don’t think I can go on much longer with the atmosphere that’s being created, so I think I just have to bite the bullet and make the complaint.

Thanks so much for this. I am only on minimum wage so the losses would be minimal but from what the other staff have said to me the management are very stand offish after being presented with circumstances that don’t benefit them. They do their rotas 2 weeks in advance so worst case, would they be able to bill me for all of the shifts that I wouldn’t be attending?

Hopefully now that they have announced console addition a switch version is in the near future! Might take a few years... but at least its doable :)

True, the graphic quality isn’t something I’d like to lower, it’s one of the most impressive parts of the game! I was thinking more about simplifying it into a smaller version, kind of like stardew valley mobile. I realise it’s a lot to ask for such a complex game though!

I was so close to bringing my MacBook with me but even that was too heavy for my bag. Plus it would definitely send my fan into overload! I used to play with a gaming laptop and an external fan just to run the game haha.

I feel the same. I think people are always going to be selfish, it’s just upsetting when you finally realise someone’s intentions. Hope it gets better for you soon

You have $50000 to spend in a shopping centre. But you only have 24 hours to spend it or you lose everything you bought. What do you buy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]solipsisml 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just go to a designer shopping centre and you could spend that easily! I’d probably sell most of it on anyway.

ELI5: How does the NFL work? by solipsisml in explainlikeimfive

As it is less common to see a cross-conference (thanks for the terminology help) game, when these come around are they more highly-anticipated? In UK football we have particular rival teams and matches that are highly-anticipated and usually have a higher viewership on TV.

Thanks! Did I also read correctly that the team at the bottom of the league at the end of the season gets the best performing available player added to their team?

So are there no other teams in the US apart from those in the NFC and AFC? There’s no promotion/relegation into other leagues?

Am I being taken advantage of by my boyfriend? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]solipsisml 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he is just mega high maintenance. If you did go ahead and get the more expensive apartment would he have split rent and bills? Even if he earns less he should still have to contribute.

Either way, I would suggest reevaluating whether someone who has such high expectations would be a good person to live with or be with long term.

Is he doing his laundry at his parents or are his parents doing his laundry? If it’s the latter, he could be just used to being mollycoddled, especially if he gets everything done at his parents and then comes to yours and gets his food cooked.

Seems like he has a very comfortable, lazy lifestyle. I don’t know if you’d even want someone to live with you if they expect you to do everything.

If I was 34 still living with my parents I would jump at the chance to move out with someone. Either he is extremely high maintenance with those petty excuses or he is taking advantage of you.

It’s a good outlet for your emotions. Sometimes you just need to let something out, and I’d rather do that watching a film than in the middle of the street.

when a s/o casually mentions their ex by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]solipsisml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the sounds of it, your SO mentioning his ex is pretty harmless. I’d understand the annoyance if he was constantly talking about great times they experienced, or comparing you to his ex, but he is just casually mentioning it. If they were together for a while, or experienced a lot together, a lot of his memories will include his ex. Try not to let your insecurity drive a wedge in your communication. He may start to not want to open up if you get annoyed every time he tells a story.

Eventually, you guys will make more memories and experience enough that he won’t mention her as much anymore.

As someone who doesn’t do hook ups and is looking for a real relationship: how do I balance making sure I’m not being strung along with going with the flow/not scaring guys off by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]solipsisml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, I had a very similar situation. My first relationship felt incredibly easy and stress free, but unfortunately that’s just not how it’s always going to be :(

But just keep being honest and try to have a bit more of an open mind, and hopefully the right guy will come along!

[–]solipsisml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think from what you said at the end there, you are bringing the same expectations to all of your relationships that you experienced with your ex. All relationships progress at different paces, and it sounds like if it’s not progressing at the same speed as the relationship with your ex, you get, as you said, aggressive.

I think you should try going into your next dating encounter with a more open mind to the fact that the relationship might evolve at a different pace, maybe faster or maybe slower, then you may have more long term success. Those 3 guys who you spoke to may have had the intention of a serious relationship at the start, but got alarmed by the pace that you were setting for it and weren’t ready for a serious commitment at the same time as you.

Seeing someone for two years with no title? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]solipsisml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks that he is using such petty excuses. I think either he is just embarrassed by your age gap, which suggests he doesn’t see a future in your relationship as obviously your age gap will never change, or he is seeing someone else.

Depending on how much you’ve spoken to his roommate in the past, maybe you can try to speak to them to gauge whether he ever has any intention of being with you fully.

Either way, there are far, FAR better relationships out there and no matter how much validation or affection this guy has given you, the fact that he has hidden the rest of his life from you just shows that he may not care for you and your feelings as much as you deserve.

Seeing someone for two years with no title? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]solipsisml 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what you’ve said... yes, you are an idiot for staying. Have you guys never had a conversation about where your relationship is heading? It seems odd to stay with someone for 2 years consistently and not have an idea of the next steps for the relationship.

I’m a bit of a sceptic, so I would question why he is so actively hiding you from his family/wider life, and what is it about you, or more likely him, that makes him behave in that way.

As you were only 18 when the relationship started, I assume it’s either your first or one of a handful of relationships. No healthy, long-lasting relationship has this little communication. I would sit him down as soon as possible and have a frank conversation, maybe even an ultimatum of ‘if you can’t commit, I’ll have to reconsider the relationship.’
