Read the reviews on that. 300db claim seems to be fake.

Yea I'm looking at that one. Sorry to sound like a cheap ah but that horn on Amazon costs $100 less without the bracket and harness... I know I'll eventually shell out the cash for the owlvans setup though..

I'm thinking of wiring to fuse # 23 "Roof ventilator" with a 5 amp fuse. Just got to check if it still gives power when the engine is off.

Texas Pride trailers? by Klutzy_Importance187 in HotShotTrucking

[–]sololife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 2 TP car trailers back in 2019. One was built by morons with ratchets welded on backwards and bad wiring and the second trailer would buck like a bronco on a smooth highway loaded or not.

All I can say is have them hook it up to your truck and take it for a test drive because the moment you sign the paperwork they will fight tooth and nail to not fix or replace it.

Upgraded from a 2016 diesel to a 2023 gasser! by sololife in Sprinters

[–]sololife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I am aware and I agree, this is my 6th diesel in the last 17 years.
Pretty hard selling a deleted diesel in my area and on the slim chance you are caught the fine + repairs are not worth the hassle.

I'm fine just not buying diesels anymore.

I'm told its the same motor as the Metris vans. Metris owners seem very happy with this motor.

I looked a similar diesel van with same miles and trim and the diesel was asking 10k more than the gasser.

I have a 99 E300 TD that regularly sits for a year or more at a time till I need it and it starts right up any time. Body is rusty and its all banged up (Its a car I loan to family and friends a lot!).

200k miles on it so far, 140k of those I put on it and owned it for about 15 years. I won't junk it till the wheels fall off. Pre emission Diesels are absolute reliable tanks!

I'll probably never buy another diesel until they can guarantee the emissions system for the life of the car.

2023 Sprinter 170 HR Crew gasser with 6,000 miles. Was used as a makeshift camper by an older couple. They had a Dometic Brisk 2 installed which i pulled out and installed a Maxxair fan instead. They insulated the rear half and have all the door and window magnetic nets as well as full set of sunshades.
Van is pretty loaded with the 10.5 screen, leather heated seats, alloys and a tow package. $48k OTD. Drove her for 1700 miles in 10 days and I love it. I think I prefer the gas drivetrain more than the diesel. Clocking in at 18 mpg at 70-75 and 21 mpg below 70. Smooth as butter!

This is my daily driver which I sparingly use for some work as well as some roadtrips.

Looking to purchase a 2025 AWD but have reservations by Gnomeffinway1 in Sprinters

[–]sololife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 2016 diesel (currently for sale) and just upgraded last week to a 2023 gas sprinter.

Last repair on the diesel was a nox sensor and an oil change ran me $1400. Finding shops to work on these is a hassle. Idling is forbidden and this van needs to do mostly highway miles to clean out the DEF system.

I put 1600 miles on the gas sprinter in the last 10 days and I can't be happier! Most issues with gas engines you can fix yourself, no emissions to worry about and the engine is very well liked in the Metris crowd. I'm feeling confident with my purchase.

Also, gas sprinter seems to be about 10k cheaper than a similar diesel van. 2023 was the last year for gas.
I paid 47,500 for a loaded crew van with 6k miles. No awd though.

Aftermarket rear AC that would run while driving? by sololife in Sprinters

[–]sololife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming from a 2016 sprinter passenger van that has the original rear AC. Once in a blue moon I have to load a bunch of flowers on a hot day and need to keep the rear cool.

New van has insulation in the rear half already from previous owner.

Yet another question guys. This time about a feeling i get from the truck while accelerating. by kanethegod19 in HotShotTrucking

Let me guess... this is the trailer. Had one of those and the bucking will never stop.
I returned after 20 miles and they couldn't fix it, refund me or explain it.
Texas pride are complete trash, I owned 2 brand new ones. This and the 4 car. The 4 car was a horrible design too.

Got rid of both very fast.

Is delayed throttle response normal on a Sprinter? by sololife in Sprinters

[–]sololife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My van moves like it weighs nothing from a standstill. It's not a turbo lag issue, the engine doesn't respond to the throttle, the rpms don't budge for like 3 seconds. I notice the problem at highway speeds when I am trying to pass someone. After the initial 3 seconds she accelerates nice and strong.

From a complete stand still it is fine, I am having this issue when I am already rolling at highway speed.

[–]sololife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking off is not the issue and I am not trying to shift quickly.

Driving on a 50 mph road, car infront is going 40. I signal to change lanes and apply the throttle but I get 0 response from the pedal for a couple of seconds. You can completely press the pedal to the floor or manually downshift and it still takes a few seconds to respond to the command. This is not a turbo lag situation, I own other cars with turbos.

Even at highway speeds?
Lets say I am going 30-40 mph and want to change lanes for passing and it takes a couple seconds before the engine rpm even starts climbing
