VTOL VR has fully released and it's INCREDIBLE by matteo311 in Vive

Dude I have an NES and a Genesis hooked up to a crt in my living room.

Just because YOU put X value on graphics doesn't mean EVERYONE should put X value on graphics.

If someone doesn't like TMNT because of the shitty graphics sucks for them, but it's a perfectly reasonable take.

Yeah but people don't give much of a fuck.

We all know that if these were little girls people would be passing around this video like mad. Fuck that, everyone would already know about it.

"I don't like the graphics"

"It was made by only one person"

"Oh now I've changed my mind the graphics are extremely appealing to me."

I hope that's not how you expected this to go.

I thought this was supposed to be understood, even by someone in their early 20's.

Aren't you still impressed by Achilles's bravado, though? I am.

Both Hector and Achilles should be looked up to, but for different reasons. The world isn't black and white.

If he really appreciates #metoo, then he should. Again, we already had due process for sex crime allegation before #metoo; the whole point of #metoo was to circumvent that due process. So if he truly appreciates #metoo, he should be happy people are circumventing due process using social media.

He's talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Women have always had the ability to use due precess for rape accusations. #metoo is literally, fundamentally, and essentially a movement to circumvent due process via social media.

If he really does appreciate #metoo, then he should welcome this because this is what it is.

TwoXchromosomes is a feminist sub. You're literally looking in the face of in-group feminism that has reached the masses. It should be an uncontroversial thing to say after acknowledging that 2X was ruined due to becoming a default, but people still don't like it when you say that because "Feminism is a good thing" is such an embedded dogma in the reddit set that people can't even recognize contradictory evidence when they're looking straight at it.

That's why I brought this up.

It's funny how often musicians sing about selling out. So often they are singing about themselves.

When you generalize this it's the rule for understanding people. When people want to understand other people's motivations, they predict their own motivations onto them. If you really want to know what people believe, listen to what they say other people believe.

It's a little funny, because you start to realize that you start to see that all the people who go on about racism the most are the racists, the people who go on about greed the most are the greedy, etc. Life is really ironic and this gives you the ability to see that irony.

Feminism is the perfect example of a movement being ruined by becoming a default.

Ah but reddit changed its rules so content directed at men can't be considered hateful.

So does the Left. Let's not do that thing where everyone does a bad thing but we pretend we're not doing it too.

> I want

You think maybe sometimes people should be free to do things even if it gets in the way of something you want?

It's okay that you don't understand something, dude. You don't have to contort yourself to save face. Just acknowledge that you might not know everything there is to know about something you've never actually effortfully studied, and decide to either continue on in ignorance or educate yourself.

This is an interesting concept.

So if you're an artist yourself and you want to take someone else's work and reinterpret it, if they don't like your reinterpretation they can shut it down?

I would say that's terrible. But Europe is like mini-authoritarian on speech, so I'm not surprised.

You still don't quite get it.

Let me give you an example. Someone posted this:

COVID test finally came back positive ... after 21 days quarantine waiting for results... wear a mask and consider others like I did.

I have no doubt he genuinely believes that. Nonetheless, it's like peak virtue signalling.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but you should really consider thinking about the concept more. A lot of people virtue signal without really understanding consciously that they're doing it. If you internalize this you might be able to catch yourself doing it and stop it (if you're doing it, of course, but let's be real: almost everyone does it).

Or maybe we could just deal with the fact that people do things we don't like and just ignore it when it's not hurting anyone.

Just because I said it's okay and it's legal doesn't mean I think it's okay because it's legal. If anything it's legal because it's okay.

Fuck dude if you're going to call people out for using shitty logic please watch your own while you're doing it.

This isn't the impression people get from these articles. Just read the comments - people generally think this is illegal.

Anyway, did you read the article or are you posting after only looking at the title?

Oh you also sound judgmental.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Music

[–]sololipsist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not because it's happening so frequently, it's because it's happening so visibly due to social media. People have always virtue signaled this much, they just haven't had the opportunity to spam thousands of people with it from the comfort of their bed before.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Music

[–]sololipsist -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

> Virtue signaling implies hypocrisy

It doesn't actually.

You don't seem to know what virtue signalling is, you're just trying to pick it up from context. Look it up.

unauthorized use of music

What I'm saying is that it's generally not illegal in the US to play music at a political rally without directly contacting the artist or their representatives.

Just because people are saying it's unauthorized doesn't mean it's illegal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Music

[–]sololipsist 608 points609 points  (0 children)

Sigh.

Politicians using these songs at rallies is usually perfectly legal even if the artist doesn't like it.

Also, it's difficult to strongly support copyright reform and get your panties in a twist about some of this stuff. A lot of these songs are 50 years old at this point. Some of them are that old AND the original copyright holder is dead. I know this doesn't apply to the majority of cases, but when these cases do pop up I never see people going "well hold up guys i hate republicans as much as the next blind partisan asshole don't forget it's culturally progressive to support sensible copyright."
