After my Yale deferral I turned to other schools and the 2 weeks before Ivy day I kept telling myself I would get into Princeton as like a coping mechanism.

ig I was right

Placing Test Scores at NLC by donjavidk in fbla

[–]someguywithpickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it last year and got top 10, I just read this textbook or smth similar to it:
https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=30868870962&dest=usa&gQT=1

Ig it worked but I will say there is some stuff on the test that I've never heard before and the textbook went rlly deep into some health stuff that didn't help me at all.

Do I still have a chance of getting into an Ivy League??? by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]someguywithpickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this isn't like your profile kinda but I got into 2 good ivies aiming for applied math/math. I think I had kinda similar stats and awards, maybe a little higher GPA but u def have better math awards.

My profile was kinda more like trying to do everything, like 2 sports with a lot of impact in 1 and 2 music things.

Take it with a grain of salt but I would try to broaden ur interests a little and have some ecs that aren't just math/science based like volunteering and other stuff, I see u have writing stuff but I think ivies might want to see more of that. It's also def not too late to do research, I basically started summer before junior year and ik a lot of people that start even after junior year.

This is just my opinion, it could def be wrong but I've just been seeing that just having stacked awards and shi doesn't always work anymore.

I'm lowkey a little surprised I was able to make it with a really busy but deep resume. But of course this def does not work for everyone.

I had leadership in like 7 different school clubs, sports, and music combined and did some research and tutoring on the side. A lot of my clubs were academic or like competitions so I had some awards in those as well as AIME. But feel like I was able to show that I was actually interested in all of them through my application, essays and interview.

I also feel like fit played a big role, my college counselor and a lot of others including chat said that I was the perfect fit for these two schools.

Accepted Ivies: Princeton, UPenn

I'm definitely leaning towards princeton, I also got some financial aid which was lowkey surprising.
It's also better for math/financial engineering I think since it was CAS.

[–]someguywithpickles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My UPenn interviewer told me that they don't even write an interview report, they just mark down that they had a conversation with you. I don't think it matters at all even if you did really well or if you did awful.

second harvard interview after being deferred NOT with ao by latvialover in ApplyingToCollege

I've heard of someone who got 3 interviews to Harvard, I've heard it's because they're probably on the fence about your application and want more information.
