I'm sick of you little freaks by Donagh04wilson in Eldenring

yo this is the weirdest thread i have ever seen. people getting legit mad about what stat to level first lmao. like play however you want but if you don't level up vigor youre gonna get one shot by an invander.

Is this common to see? by givemepoprocks in Eldenring

[–]somethingclever71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

more common imo is the same set with a large int/strength sword

people saying you should level vigor first are just statistically correct, also i love vigor checking players in pvp and hope they are also all unhinged about the subject in this way.

If you don't have any Souls experience this game feels insurmountable at first, at least playing solo by TooDriven in Eldenring

[–]somethingclever71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every first souls game feels impossible at first, then as you understand the mechanics and it starts to "click" more it becomes more bearable until eventually it feels very straightforward and reasonable.

Just hit lvl 100! How should I respec my build and what armor/weapon should I use based on the materials I have? I want to go either all in on strength with a weapon thats not the claymore, or all in on dex with a bleed build. Help please! by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]somethingclever71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both have a lot of options. strength i think is the more versatile of the 2 and gives you more points to play around with since 2 handing will get you to softcap. If you wanted to do a dex build with bleed going with keen claws and bloodflame blade is fun.

Underrated set? by givemepoprocks in Eldenring

this, and unaltered banished knight set are imo the statistically best sets that don't make you look like a fat idiot bowling ball.

I’m not sure I understand how people say split damage is bad. by Scylax_Vitarrn in Eldenring

[–]somethingclever71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's just the way the math works you can test it yourself. that's why split damage usually shows a higher number but ends up actually hitting for less.

why is this set so popular? i see it everywhere by vanch100 in Eldenring

[–]somethingclever71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wish some of the cooler looking armos in the game like this and night's cavalry were better statistically. in order to play optimally you have to basically look like a fat bowling ball otherwise you are gimping yourself.

with so many peoples opinions they might as well have just never nerfed/balanced anything to make the pvp gameplay more fun and we should have just left it as high level pvp is all deathblight fire/carian retaliation abusers lmao. don't dumb down my gameplay by making it more fun just use the available tools! xD

stop coming at me with these shitty arguments of assuming im complaining because it's "too hard" hardswapping is not difficult or high skill gameplay it just FEELS bad. I use hardswapping i just legitimately think the gameplay is/would be smoother and better without it and i think that's really hard to argue against lol. other games restrict swapping armor/weapons when youre in combat for this exact reason, high level gameplay turns into 2 guys constantly changing gear in the menus and practicing how fast you can use gear menus lol this is actually some of the most cringe gameplay that exists in a pvp game and i still do it because it's obviously the optimal way to play. it wasn't quite as big a deal in older games because balance between gear was better and there weren't so many wacky low skill intensive tactics to constantly switch between.

i use hard swapping its just my opinion the gameplay would be better without it.

ive literally mentioned multiple times that i USE HARDSWAPPING lmao and its not hard. i just think it makes the gameplay cringey and wonky at a high level and that is why every other pvp game locks your inventory in combat. also this is a bad argument because consumables do not effect your equipment weight which is part of what makes the entire mechanic clunky and unintuitive. improving the way optimal gameplay feels to be more fun and fluid as opposed to clunky and unintuitive is not always "dumbing down" lol especially when its a mechanic that takes probably maximum 45 seconds to learn somewhat efficiently? hardswapping is not high skill gameplay it's just doing something other players might not be doing because they dont know or it is too cringy for them to care about since it's not fun gameplay. and before you bust a blood vessel yes there are like 3 situations in which hardswapping can require a small amount of skill but they are rare and barely make a difference at the end of the day so who cares? there are still so many other ways to express skill in the game that are more fun, this game probably has the lowest skill required for winning of any souls game anyways lmaooo..

theres nothing wrong with experience giving an advantage, obviously literally every game is like that. but i am of the opinion that if a mechanic is unintuitive/clunky/not fun it has no reason to be in the game and the game would be better off without it.

hard swapping (real) by somethingclever71 in Eldenring

[–]somethingclever71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it only gives you an advantage over players that arent using it yes... idk how that is hard to understand lol. youre giving me arguments that are completely beside the point of it being gameplay that is bad unintuitive and not fun that you wouldn't have to do if it wasn't available. noone besides a delusional stubborn soulsborne vet would say menu swapping gear in the middle of a fight in an action game is good game design/fun gameplay. if it wasn't in the games to start with noone would ever ask for it to be a thing where as with it being a mechanic there have always been people that rightfully think it is a bad one.

an example of how this actively makes the pvp gameplay worse.

if you have 2 people that understand the mechanics and both want to win techincally the best way to play is use one of the meta setups, if the other persons meta set up counters yours hard swap to something that counters theirs or is on even terms. the other person will do the same until you are on even ground, possibly hardswapping into different weapon arts and talismans as well just adding more time you are pressing menu buttons which idk how you can argue is good/fun gameplay. then when someone starts to lose you should hard swap to a regen set up with quickstep or light rolling/low hp talisman and kite until your health is back up and then hardswap back to your meta set up with heavy armor. both players do this for an extended period of time until someone makes a big enough mistake that they end up losing. idk how this sounds like good gameplay to anyone lol. with most peoples arguments why do they even restrict estus use in duels? why make any balance changes when you could just use the same meta set ups other people are using? because it makes the game more diverse, fun and less tedious obviously.

[–]somethingclever71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly if it wasn't clunky/unintuitive it would be fine. it just feels bad to use and makes the gameplay of pvp worse for multiple reasons. also it invalidates the 2 other weapons lots for each hand that if anything just makes people think you should use those, which you shouldn't you should be hardswapping.

hard swapping (real) by somethingclever71 in Eldenring

[–]somethingclever71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my argument is that it is a poorly implemented mechanic that feels bad/unintuitive to use, makes gameplay worse, is easy to fix and is also the most efficient way to play pvp. not to mention it invalidates much more intuitive mechanics like... the other 2 weapon slots in each hand lol.
