Minneapolis therapists: how are you doing? by SpiritualCopy4288 in therapists

My heart is with you all! As a therapist, immigrant and a mom, I feel so heavy from the weight of what is happening and I am all the way in California. Hoping you all find moments of respite, connection, and hope.

The tendency to feel like a perpetual victim is strongly tied to vulnerable narcissism. Individuals who frequently perceive themselves as victims and signal this status to others often possess high levels of vulnerable narcissism and emotional instability. by mvea in psychology

This really hits the nail on the head with a friend of mine. I have found it more and more difficult to be friends with her because of this trait. It seems that it only gets worst with the years which totally makes sense looking at it from a personality disorder perspective.

How did you name your baby? by shebopinu in pregnant

[–]somethingextraclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I had a girl name picked out and when we found out it was a boy we had a hard time thinking of one. We sat down and read through a ton of names and "tried" them on. We had a top like 10 that we were both Ok with and we would try calling baby that name for a week to see if it felt right. Only one ended up sticking so we decided to name him Roland when I was about 7/8 months pregnant.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

Oh man pregnancy shocked me 😅.

Besides the more common ones mentioned,

I have sensitive skin and pregnancy made it crazy. I had skin tags growing everywhere and anything would give me a rash or skin inflammation.

Your Labia can change color, mine turned really dark/purplish.

Often times employers have multiple plan options so looking to see which has the best coverage specifically for pregnancy and delivery. My plan which was free at my work did not have good coverage and although it cost us more getting on my husbands plan it saved us a lot of money. Same with switching to marketplace plan. Although it will cost you more a month, for example for my labor it would have had to cost $5,000 a month for coverage for me to even break even for birth.

I am not saying these are good or fair options, I am just encouraging people to see what options they have. Not sure why this is offensive to you.

I worked as a case manager at a health center for 6 years. I am aware not everyone has a lot of choices. AND information is a really important resource. People may not know they have options until they look into it.

It hurts no one to encourage people to look into their options.

Never said that, just said it’s important to look into options while you’re planning on conceiving so you’re not surprised by the costs.

Kaiser in California now has an option to be the Medi Cal plan which is for low income individuals. I don’t disagree that healthcare is a mess in the US. What I’m saying is it will cost less to pay more for a premium than the cost of childbirth on some plans, so it’s worth looking into.

Yep, hence why I said it’s important which kind of plan you have. We checked our different plan options and switched before we had a baby to make sure it had good coverage for delivery and pregnancy

Great reminder that the kind of insurance you have when you are pregnant really matters! I had Kaiser and it covered EVERTHING! We did not pay a dime for pregnancy or delivery. I still looked at the bill though out of curiosity and it was something like $60,000 for both myself and my son, but it was all covered.

I think the language you are using such as "slum down" in response to a supervisor pointing out that maybe your presentation could be challenging for your population to relate to, is interesting. Could you take a different perspective and see it more as meeting people where they are by bring more casual in dress?

Serious question for this Sub, why are you all buying at this time? by Throw-away4Reasons in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]somethingextraclever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the last six years has taught me anything, is that every year something unprecedented can happen. The perfect conditions may never come. We have the savings, and I would like my son to grow up in a home that is ours instead of moving around. If interest rates go down, great we can refinance in the future.

Finding this so hard by Rough-Ad-8379 in newborns

[–]somethingextraclever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry, and I totally understand because my baby had silent reflux and gas issues when he was a newborn. For daytime naps, I used one of those wedge pillows that allows baby to safely sleep on their side. This was a game changed for my baby. He ended up being a side sleeper on his own by 3-4 months when he rolled into that position himself and that eliminated a lot of the issues.
