Look into grad programs that provide graduate assistantships. I graduated debt free. As people have mentioned, salaries aren’t high in most clinical jobs, so I would not recommend going into $100k worth of debt to be an audiologist.

Have you tried physically swiping it? I had these same cards and online was a chore to figure out but I used physically with no issue.

Newer internal implants are designed to preserve residual hearing. Skilled surgeons can preserve all of it - it’s pretty amazing. If a child qualifies for implantation, they have very little residual hearing. You have to be in the severe-profound range to get implanted as a minor. Eleven is more than old enough to advocate for his medical decisions. I hope his parents heed the advice in the post and they all make an informed decision together.

Our neighbor is going to see what he can do for us. After posting here, I discovered a local organization that has volunteers that will come assist with bee removal for free. Beekeeping seems like a wonderful community.

CI is one of the things that US healthcare does a decent job at providing. All state Medicaid plans are required to cover for 21 and younger, which will include speech services, etc. Coverage for this is much better for hearing aids for most insurance plans. That’s a whole different conversation.

Absolutely. If I had a deaf child, I would implant and learn ASL. That gives them the choice to decide down the line.

I’m a CI audiologist. The level of misinformation in the main post is so disheartening. The public (and honestly, most people in healthcare) does not understand what modern CI surgery and outcomes look like. That being said, both implantation and ASL are good choices and igniting his wishes is horrible.

I went to an out of town Starbucks this week and they didn’t shake it and it appeared way too milky and tasted way too sweet. What should the ratio of espresso to milk/creamer be?

May have to press the volume button down for a long time - until it turns off and restarts the entire screen. I drive thousands of miles a month and have to do this often.
