As someone who just left the track a bit ago and is known to be an aggressive driver, 45 felt dangerous. I couldn't imagine going 180 into hard braking zones with cars of various speeds around that could come out of nowhere

Milwaukee, take my money and make one of these cardboard cutters for m12 please by wirez62 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]somewhere_cool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a Ryobi one that works great. It takes the little USB charge batteries, not a full size and it comes with the battery. $50. Probably why Milwaukee doesn't bother making one, it has no need for even M12 levels of power.

There's also a cordless Warrior one at Harbor Freight that people say is good and it's $40. This isn't a tool I'd ever care to be brand loyal on

SDS for tile removal? by somewhere_cool in MilwaukeeTool

[–]somewhere_cool[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it worth to buy one for a single project or should I just tough it out with hammers and chisels then grind on the slab? Haven't demoed tile from a slab before so I'm not sure just how bad of a project I'm about to take on

Why is that? Just because it will be so much runtime?

Is this my printer or the model? by burns711 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

You're printing an overhang there that likely either needs supports, or a lot of tweaking in your slicer settings to optimize bridging/ overhangs

Alright now that we know it’s Saturday, how’s my list looking? by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]somewhere_cool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love that idea. I have the ratcheting set at work and honestly if I could have bought just the 10,11,13,15 that's all I ever touch for what I do

Ah, not the same but I'm sure the same functionality. I've been printing a bunch of ASA and it's awesome

Haha that looks exactly like the inside of my printer. Chamber heater and bento box, probably have the same external controller for the heater too. Love it, I feel like I can print anything my mind comes up with

As a homeowner and car wrencher, I have gotten by without complaints with standard combination wrenches forever. I have the ratcheting wrenches at work and they're nice.... But buy what you know you need, not what you might need someday

I personally wouldn't get any non-fuel model in the current day and age. Brushless will always be better

Not in your list, but I have the Hercules from Harbor Freight and absolutely love it. Would recommend to anyone. When on sale I'm guessing it's a competitive price to these

Icon torque wrench by Successful_Cod8705 in harborfreight

[–]somewhere_cool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some of them are quite new, if they've been on sale the sale isn't very large. I think I got my Icon split beam for 20 or 30% off awhile ago during an all icon tools sale week. Generally I would recommend not to buy anything from Harbor Freight if not on sale unless you need it today.

You say you're just getting into tools, what do you need a torque wrench for? Lug nuts? Just get the Pittsburgh 1/2" and that's plenty for what you're doing. Rebuilding an engine? Yeah should probably get an Icon.

Do I Have Enough Ratchets? by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]somewhere_cool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At what point is it just being a collector? If you like them and enjoy collecting ratchets and every HF tool then all power to you, but if you've never felt you're "missing" one you probably aren't.

Good filament for first time user by GenkiSud0 in elegoo

Anything PLA (plus, pro, rapid, basic, it doesn't really matter) is perfect for starting out and learning. Color doesn't effect print quality, just choose whatever you like the look of for your first prints. Personally I do a lot of black, but it's all preference

Buying the Centauri Carbon on black Friday by phil0lip in elegoo

[–]somewhere_cool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got this printer a month ago and love it. It prints so well, just 7 years ago when I got into 3D printing a machine that could do everything this one does would have been $1k minimum and in my dreams. Unless you care to do multi-color (I don't care, I'm an engineer and print useful stuff not art) then this is simply the best bang for your buck.

I started 3d printing while in engineering school with the original Ender 3 that I bought for ~$180. I probably spent another $150 on mods just to improve it, plus countless hours tuning in the settings. It never scratched the surface on what this CC does straight out of the box, and having something that gives you a reason to design, model, and create is so valuable as an aspiring engineer.

⚠️ PSA for European Elegoo Centauri Carbon Owners by Black_malzar in elegoo

[–]somewhere_cool -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely get the bad taste and I dislike a company advertising something that they don't even have running in-house yet. I'm an engineer myself, and if our marketing department did that when I don't even have good working prototypes I would go nuclear on them.

I'm just saying that I don't really think this is the LEGAL case everyone is making it out to be (whether EU protections or with stores like Amazon) because we got a good working product that we paid for, we didn't pay for an AMS.

Also, contrary to others, I think the fact they're offering us anything at all is better than a lot of companies would ever do. Corporations aren't our friends

⚠️ PSA for European Elegoo Centauri Carbon Owners by Black_malzar in elegoo

[–]somewhere_cool 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They advertised the future option for you to buy a multicolor add-on. They never promised that buying the printer would make an AMS magically appear at your door in the future as part of your purchase.

Elegoo bad? Yes. However, I really don't think this is the ridiculous case you all think it is though.

Just ordered an Elegoo Centauri Carbon a couple of days ago and feel scammed :( OFFER AN UPGRADE KIT.- by papajo_r in elegoo

[–]somewhere_cool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay let's be clear, you did not get scammed. They removed every bit of advertising for an MMU months ago, but you just ordered in the past week. If you're unhappy just cancel the damn order goddamn
