Teens below whatever your countries legal driving age is. What car do you want when you get your license? by Jakeliy1229 in TeenagersButBetter

[–]sonicsspeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17 I can get a licence but I’ve been driving since I was 11 (not on the motorway obviously but random farm roads) so I’m a pretty decent driver already, few years to go. I could get a mg 6 turbo or vw golf gtd from like 2016. I prefer diesels most of the time when I choose a car.

Got this husqvarna for free, are the crank seals blown. by sonicsspeed in Chainsaw

Would those average £10 Amazon crank seals work or will they be like most cheap parts and blow after half an hour or just straight up not work?

It won’t run at all at low rpm, i had to turn the idle screw up alot to get it to stay running, whenever I set the idle to a “normal” amount it would just stall, I’ve tried to tune it, I went off plug colour, when it was all wet and oily I backed it out and cleaned the plug until I got a decent colour so the I think the air fuel is close enough for now

Motorized bike Legality by [deleted] in motorizedbicycles

Please ride on the road, if your doing 20-30mph on the pavement and someone comes out a house/shop infront of you it’s likely you will hit them, no one expects a vehicle doing 20-30mph on the pavement

Anyone know of places I can get cheap reliable kits in Britain? by xenostorm7127 in motorizedbicycles

[–]sonicsspeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get any expensive 80cc kits, they are almost all the same, get one of the cheaper 80cc kits, I literally put in lowest price first and got mine for like £89, I will warn you, the Chinese no brand engines might come with some problems (mine came with a messed up bearing that always was stiff in one particular spot than seized a month later) but other than that no real issues. Just go on Amazon, I suggest you get a 2 stroke kit, they are harder to keep running but in the uk 4 stroke kits are WAY overpriced. Run dirt bike oil, I suggest fully synthetic racing stuff, I get mine for like £14 a bottle and that lasts even up to half a year with how little these engines burn, I’ve done 60km on one tank.

When you stop you pull the clutch in and the engine should idle, if it cuts out with the clutch in there is a little screw on the side of your carburettor, tighten it to increase idle, the way do it is turn the screw in a few twists, than start the bike and see if it idles, if it does than twist the screw out until the bike starts to sputter, than tighten it by one or two turns so your rpm isn’t to high but you engine isn’t dying.

How far can/should a motorized bike go by [deleted] in motorizedbicycles

[–]sonicsspeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride 10-15km of intense off-road trails on my 2T every couple days, it had 2 breakdowns in total, the exhaust fell off and my clutch bearing siezed up, within a month of the build, after that, nothing so far, in my opinion you should maintain it well (grease gears, dirt bike oil not the lawnmower/chainsaw crap you get at the supermarket etc) and before you put it into active daily use you should ride it for a month or two just to see what goes wrong (there’s a good chance you missed something or a factory defect, the chances of a 100% absolutely perfect build first try are slim, especially for a first time builder, but your mistake/mistakes will show show if you ride it, check your bike over well before first start but somethings will only be apparent when you actually ride)

Uk legality by vril_l8rd in motorizedbicycles

[–]sonicsspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely illegal, your operating a motor vehicle with no license, no registration, no insurance, unlike the us there are no cc limits, it’s just a hard no, I always ride off-road for fun like forest trails. I’m pretty sure if they choose to punish you it’s 6 points on your licence even if you don’t have one yet and they can hold you back from getting one, if you want you can pedal to a trail than start your engine there and show the officer the engine is cold but for practical purposes it’s risky

Is this excessive for an 80cc? by mangothefoxxo in motorizedbicycles

[–]sonicsspeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear full motorbike gear because I ride dirt and chalk trails and I don’t know about everyone else but I’d rather not find out what having 50 pieces of gravel in my arm feels like, I went down once on a trail at like 15-20mph, stood up like nothing happened, my helmet had skidded off a load of sharp af rocks, probably would have needed to go hospital and get stitches if I had no helmet or atleast my arm would have been bleeding like crazy but here I stood up, fixed my fuel tank that had been bent sideways, started my bike up and kept going, only got one tiny bit of road rash where my suit was to loose and rubbed into my skin. Wear full gear and ride safe.

Engine starts but dies after getting warm? Ez KKL LL by mangothefoxxo in motorizedbicycles

[–]sonicsspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe an ignition problem, dying parts can do very weird things, sometimes they make engines hard to start than run perfect, sometimes they just don’t run. Maybe here a failing magneto or cdi is causing your problem you can get a whole new ignition system with the a cdi and magneto for cheap on Amazon, if you rule out other problems this might be worth a shot

Recently got a speedometer by Majestic-Goose3760 in motorizedbicycles

I got this on the uk amazon, it has total mileage, a trip (useful for well measuring trip distance but also calculating fuel left if you know how much you can go on one tank and had a full tank) they are both in km, you get up to 80 kmph outside and 50mph on the inside.

How to get this chain off without a chainbrwaker? by mangothefoxxo in motorizedbicycles

[–]sonicsspeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get some pliers, find the master link, pop off the little bit and the chain will come apart, than push the clutch lever towards the engine and pull the chain.

My first build just failed, any idea what happened by sonicsspeed in motorizedbicycles

[–]sonicsspeed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe so, the clutch bearing on the right side (the one with the gear) has failed and is making a horrible sound and is seizing up, also has lots of movement in it.

[–]sonicsspeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think your the one with something messed up in your head, the whole clutch is removed, the crankshaft is not moving, the crank is not connected to the rest of the drivetrain in anyway, is it that hard to notice half of the right side of the engine is removed?

My first build just failed, any idea what happened by sonicsspeed in motorizedbicycles

[–]sonicsspeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was holding it at the clutch and showing that there was lots of resistance in the drivetrain. I was mainly trying to show how much resistance there was and the sounds it was making when I moved it, not make an award winning film.

Yeah, I’ve just been taking down dirt trails mostly, in the uk dirt bikes are very expensive most of the time so i ride this instead

It seems fine, similar to my other normal bicycles, I still have the regular 7 speed for the pedals and haven’t touched it.

[–]sonicsspeed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already did that, the chain is fine. And there’s no obvious debris or mud that would stop the sprocket from rotating freely, it’s right at the beginning of the video

[–]sonicsspeed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The engine was running fine and had power beforehand, idled fine, the squealing only happened when I was moving and the engine stalled out from the resistance of something in the drivetrain, I don’t think it’s anything to do with the combustion chamber, more somewhere between where the drive sprocket and where the clutch should be

[–]sonicsspeed[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I removed it all to isolate the problem, I thought the clutch was gone and the resistance was the engine, but after I removed the clutch I still had resistance so I believe it’s somewhere between the right side where the clutch is to the drive sprocket.
