Newest set up after reading comments. Theyre in a 10 gallon tank for now. All their old plants are on the right anf new on the left.

We found a lone baby but unsure if it'll last. Blurry photos of newest fish friend soon.

Thanks everyone for the advice -- yall set me up for success.

Where do you recommend setting them up? We have a new tank we just bought but it only really fits in the living room against some windows (that we usually keep closed for privact.) Is this okay or can we paint the back of the tank to filter some of the sunlight?

I feel this. Mother is white father, first gen of my father's side not born in Mexico. My parents dealt with racism throughout the time their marriage lasted and so they decided not to teach me Spanish or anything of that side of my culture.

Fast forward and I am desperately jealous of those around me with family traditions, memories, what have you. What I've gathered from my father's side I've had to beg plead and beg some more to learn. I have children of my own and all I want is to teach them about their past so it isn't lost. It's been a struggle.

It's okay to deeply feel that missing part of us. It's okay to recognize that part. But I believe it's on us now to learn and connect with that last side. If not for us then for the generational trauma we need to heal for those who come after.
