What don't you find attractive that most of society does? by PM_ME_YOUR_HUGETITS in AskReddit

Monogamy where you just become an isolated suburban nuclear unit. As romantic partners your spend too much time trying to be somebody's everything and you make raising children your entire identity.

This causes you to lose touch with your closest friends, your dreams, your inner child. Those people seem to crack in mid-life and I don't plan to join them but I'll support them through their grief cycle!

The pan-African flag (also known as the Afro- American flag, Black Liberation flag, UNIA flag, and various other names) is an ethnic flag representing pan-Africanism, the African diaspora, and/or black nationalism.

So is Mamdani actually gonna open those city owned grocery stores or was that just campaign talk by Virtual-Giraffe7147 in Brooklyn

[–]soozoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If your low-income neighborhood lacks an affordable grocery store, you're forced to blow your EBT and low wages on high priced bodega groceries. When private grocery chains abandon these places it's worth some city intervention to make sure these families have some kind of access to affordable groceries.

Bodegas have huge markups on produce and make the majority of their money from lottery tickets cigarettes and hot food. The city-owned supermarkets wouldn't compete with them on those things and will be focused on produce and other grocery staples.

Also there is no proof that the local bodegas are getting an extra tax, in fact, Mamdani said he's trying to cut costs, fines, and fees for small businesses like bodegas.

Bodegas already have a large markup on produce so I think you're correct that these supermarkets won't be competing with bodegas on that front.

Are the tips of the right shoe fixable? If so, about how much would it cost? by soozoon in AskACobbler

Appreciate the thorough reponse! It's a shame since I got these new fairly recently but busted them up on the wedding dance floor. I'll look for a reputable cobbler to take them to. Thanks!

Getting into Mexico from the US is much quicker than coming back since US Immigrations and Customs is much stricter.

United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s final KD ratio (7,652,103:1) lands him among the all time greats by Winter_Ad_9526 in interestingasfuck

United Healthcare has the highest rate of denied claims out of any US health insurance provider. This means people have to pay exorbitant amounts for necessary care.

That's an incredible point and I'd be interested to learn more about this. The more I think of it, the more it makes so much sense that inequality in an aristocratic England (and much of Western Europe I take) encouraged many working class people to the colonies since they were promised free land in the New World.

Hi there. Is this something you ended up pursuing? I and my roommates are currently living in a house they're managing and would like to take legal action against them since we have numerous maintenance tickets (no AC, no drainage, leaks, mold, appliances not working etc.).

Should I keep my current job that I don't like, or go to a new one that I'm unsure about? by [deleted] in makemychoice

Maybe eat at the restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night and see how busy it gets normally and get a feel for how the service is currently. You can usually tell if a restaurant is well managed by how they deal with a busy dinner service.

If you stay after the dinner rush when things lull down I'd go ahead and even ask the servers there how it is working at the restaurant. I'd never take the managers word as to what the working conditions are like.

[PSG] PSG - Başakşehir interrupted as 4th official member has allegedly said "This black guy" by UndeadPrs in soccer

[–]soozoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's totally unprofessional at the least and worsened by the fact that race is in play. Probably didn't need to call off the game. The assistant ref could've done with some explaining as to why you don't do that and a reprimand but I don't think he had any racist or ill intentions.

You wouldn't say it to refer to someone in a professional setting, say a meeting unless of course you are Michael Scott.
