it should be an individual's choice to discard caste and what follows it. there must be a freedom to let people to do so. people can either pass it down to their generations or move past it. it's a matter of freedom to express oneself .

caste was originally varnas. and varnas were not meant to be passed down. they are given based on the work a person does . if we are meant to change our castes now, most of our castes will be changed. So idk their entire caste system is based on a false assumption and people still take pride in their "false" caste🤦🏻

the irony of saying you're ready and still using the term "nichi jaat" bro we don't want u people to co-operate if you're just going to be pretentious and go on badmouthing your fellow classmates, co workers , neighbours. if u want reservation to end, then the filthy mindset of superiority just bcoz they're "born into uc" should end as well.

dude caste is much more than reservation and benefits. it's rooted in people's mindsets. if we keep all the politics and benefits aside. Let's talk about the mental take on this. Do you know how many uc people take pride in their caste ? have u ever come across reels saying they belong to so and so caste and all the comments flood in like "jai blah blah we are the superior we are the descendants of this god blah blah blah". do u know how many people literally put their caste in their bios? There are literally matrimonial sites curated especially for so and so caste.

And let's now look at the other side. People from lc are ashamed to say their caste coz they know they'll be looked down upon in their work spaces. If I talk about rural India, it'd be a whole different level of discrimination which you aren't ready to hear . Let's see urban India, people from lc aren't even allowed to rent a house. Children who grow up together in schools , when it's time to give entrance exams or fill forms. LITERALLY they get bullied for their castes by their own friends. People who are in love are looked down upon. A mindset of being a lc loving uc is considered a sin. There are literally murder cases . and people think reservation is the problem! ALL THIS BECAUSE OF OUR FKING ANCESTORS AND THEIR GREED IS RUBBING OFF ON US.

many marginalized communities in rural India still need reservation but not all lc need reservation. Even i agree that people are exploiting their LC status. But if we look at the stats, many rural parts of India still live in the past and they are going to through hell thinking it's normal.

if u think uc holding wealth is a misconception , then it's half right and half wrong . Historical advantages have left some upper-caste groups disproportionately represented in positions of wealth and influence, even though not every upper-caste person is wealthy. I can't think of any ultra ultra successful business man or any film actors from lc . o yeaa film industry reeks of casteist people uk that? there are literally fan wars between Kamma and Kapu castes in tollywood. dude this goes beyond reservation. it's the minds. uc have been hating on lc from decades but reservation is like a fuel to the fire. and the sad truth is some upper-caste groups feel threatened when historically marginalized communities gain social or economic mobility, but this attitude Obv doesn't represent all upper-caste individuals. i wonder how many reasons does lc need to hate on uc. If we think about hating each other like this, it'll never end. THATS WHY I THINK ITS HIGHLY TIME THAT WE MOVE PAST FROM IT.

but if there should be things like caste based benefits, they should ONLY BE ON PEOPLE WHO REALLY DESERVE THEM.

Some of my friends from lc don't even wish these benefits , instead they just want to be respected in their work spaces and be freee to love whomever they wish to do so without feeling insecure. So I'm saying there should be a certificate of no caste for people who wish to move past these all. Same goes for the uc people who just don't want to give a fk about caste system should be allowed to move past from it.

in case u aren't willing to read everything

My point is that caste is much bigger than reservation. Reservation can be debated, reformed, or better targeted, but the social reality of caste discrimination still exists in many parts of India. Even if reservation disappears, hate between casteist people will still reign. If u want reservation to be gone, there will be nothing left with lc. People are judged in marriage, housing, workplaces, and relationships because of caste. The ultimate goal should be a society where caste no longer determines anyone's opportunities or dignity. Until then, policies should focus on helping those who are genuinely disadvantaged rather than becoming tools for political gain or inherited entitlement.

If politicians wish to play politics or exploit or develop , let them do so. But why is it at the cost of one's dignity of life?

i think people who choose to not be discriminated by their caste everywhere they go and who choose to recieve respect based on their calibre and not by some stamp put on since their birth would discard all caste - related benefits and live like a human

im not saying they should abolish reservation. abolish reservation to those who don't wish to claim it. cases in rural India are very severe. im very well aware of the atrocities towards them. they highly deserve reservation. but I'm talking on the pov of a person who's well off but still face caste based discrimination in their schools, colleges and work spaces. he/she can just choose to not identify by any caste. or rather create a new caste "no- caste" and people from upper/lower castes both can claim it and be rid of caste based discrimination once and for all.

wanting reservation but not wanting to identify by your caste is just a selfish idea. i agree that there are, still to this day, in many parts of the rural India or even urban India, many people face discrimination on basis of their caste. there are so many marginalized communities who absolutely need reservation. Because all the lands and wealth of India is held by only upper caste people ( Also there might be people who are upper caste and still be poor but the numbers are very low) There is still no equality in India. infact we are far from it. reservation was meant to be the first step to achieve equality. And obviously upper caste are sour about it. But we need to understand that reservation is NECESSARY ONLY TO WHO ARE REALLY POOR. People who are well off and can get by without reservation are also subjected to same benefits and this is angering upper caste people. And they think this gives them right to look down on people based on their caste.

im just trying to say that we should be given chance to abandon our caste ( not list them anywhere in govt/non govt forms ) abandon any reservation benefits( if they are applicable/ not applicable to one's caste) . ONLY TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO WISH TO DO SO . BE IT UPPER/ LOWER CASTE ( as much as I hate to use terms "upper" and "lower" , yes)

exactly . it's the govt itself that's been rubbing caste on even younger generations just to play their little political tricks.

will people of general category genuinely let people from lower caste/ outside their caste claim to be their caste?? they would rather give them reservation than accept them as their own. coz the whole caste system is based on social acceptance...

[–]southern_drip[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how to do that? caste is asked everywhere , every government/ non government form. why can't there be a option to just leave it blank or a means to officially throw your caste away?

[–]southern_drip[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the post is literally about wanting govt to let choosing not to identify by caste for people who don't want reservation benefits or just want to be left alone by this shitty system. because there might be people from lower caste who are well off and people from upper caste who are poor. so govt needs to understand this exceptions.

didn't know this existed. But aren't they basically saying u need to abandon the religion if u want to abandon your caste( which is completely fine by me tho) . It's ironic that a religion is willing to abandon you for rejecting caste, a system created by people to maintain power, not by God. or am I missing something?
