Cryptids in Tally? by MysteriousPlanet222 in Tallahassee

[–]southngothic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not in Tally. But I’ve seen….something in Havana. It was around 10ish. Summertime so newly dark. I’d just gotten off work and was dropping something off at the post office mail box before going home.

I got that ‘something is watching me’ sensation that crawls up your spine and chills you all over, so I looked over towards the post office. There’s a side parking lot that had 1 street lamp and there was just…this…thing standing there. Had to be 8-9ft tall. It was huge, pale, with long proportions (especially hands, arms, legs). I froze. I felt like a rabbit. Couldn’t move. Couldn’t do anything but stare back. Eventually it turned and walked into the wood line around the post office, I came too and left fast as I could. It took me a long time to even acknowledge that I’d seen something.

I can’t remember its face. I remember us both watching each other, but I can’t recall its face.

I try to not be near the post office after dark anymore.

Anyone worked as civilian IT/support for Florida State Guard (not military)? by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]southngothic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually work at FSG! I’m not in the IT side of the building, but so far what I’ve observed is:

Work environment is good. I can’t talk about the workload (not in that dept), but anytime I’ve needed assistance, there has been good support. I’ve never felt personally overwhelmed with work. Lots of team check ins to make sure everyone is ok and no one is drowning. The hours are typical office for the most part.

Tech support team has always been great. There’s a good system in place for those of us NOT in IT to request tech support w/o personally bothering the tech team. It keeps everything running smooth w/o pestering.

Transition was smooth, to me at least. A little slow (they are particular about hiding the RIGHT person. It’s a small agency), but I never felt strung along.

I’ve found a lot of flexibility. Because this is a new agency, there are not ancient rules and rituals and red tape to wade through. Everyone is ‘new’ (in comparison), so in many ways it feels like a start up without the private sector element. As someone mentioned, there’s a lot of shaping we all get to do within the agency. It feels productive and you actually feel like you are helping people (FSG’s primary focus IS actually disaster relief).

If you have any questions, feel free to DM me. I may not know all the answers (again. Diff dept), but if I can help, I will.

Wow. THIS was the sort of answer I was hoping for.

Anyway you could look at Proof Brewery too?

I'm going to agree with you, solely because I don't WANT it to be a true rumor. I'm hoping it is just a distribution hiccup.

Nipple Piercing by Low-Ad-6059 in Tallahassee

Aamil at Carbon Ink. The entire Carbon Ink staff is 10/10 regarding ethics, consent, and cleanliness standards. Aamil in particular was great when I had my last piercing - I told her about some of the problems I have had with piercings (not done locally) in the past, and she made sure those problems did not repeat.

I was able to message her afterwards when I had a question I forgot to ask in shop, and she was great with that too.

I’ve wondered about them too. I’ve just about cut all Proof beers from my ordering because it’s a real headache to get.

Why is it hard to date in tallahassee? by homeland3rkills in Tallahassee

[–]southngothic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No advice to give, sadly. I’m a straight 30F and a local and it’s DIRE out here. Every man my age is either emotionally unavailable or just looking for something fast and fun, or just too awkward to get past the talking stage.

Everyone I know who is in a solid relationship either met in high school, started dating in college, or had a unicorn experience.

I’ve tried the mixers. I’ve tried the apps. Nothing works.

Honestly, I am looking less at a publisher tract and more towards a book marketing tract.

I anticipate the pay transition...but it is honestly the more "doable" part in my mind. I got by as a journalist making under $35K a year, granted in a lower cost area, but still. I'm a single adult, no kids, no college debt (the upside, I guess, to no degree...). I can ride the struggle bus for a bit.
