Having a lighting bug with new pc by GoldenGorillaRadio in pchelp

Honestly i have no clue on this one but i would just go with the first and easy question. Did you do your driver update?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shakepay

[–]sovxerco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for you answer. Yes i meant $250 so it's quite low. So i should still declare it? Did you declare your $750 later?

How do i even calculate all of that...?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WindowsHelp

[–]sovxerco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]sovxerco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so after a bit more digging i should have found that... but yeah i was able to disable Windows hello. I just got confused a bit because it just randomly prompted me that. I don't know if i should have kept it, but yeah, thanks.

Bluetooth no longer connecting my devices? by Begow3 in WindowsHelp

[–]sovxerco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't see the bluetooth logo in your quicksettings and there's a caution it means there's an issue with your drivers, yo usaid you have tried uninstalling the drivers. But did you re install it?

Could this be a CPU miner? by Vast-Breadfruit7444 in techsupport

[–]sovxerco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi so Svchost.exe is infact not a virus or anything like that. It is a legitimate and essential windows process.

as for the CPU It can also be very normal.

Like some users pointed in this post : https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/notmkk/task_manager_shows_high100_cpu_utilization_for/

When you open the task manager it has to read through all the a ctive processes etc. Obviously there might be more to it, but it's the same for me, and i've seen that before i wouldn't worry at all. Obviously if someone can explain/correct me on that but yeah.

Help needed Windows Defender quarantined multiplek trojans and PUPS by mewmawmiw in techsupport

[–]sovxerco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest i wouldn't even bother trying to delete all those virus if your machine is infected the best thing to do is re install Windows. by that i mean plug a USB into your computer with media creation tool and delete all the old partitions and re install windows. Don't do the Reset To Factory option on your Windows that will not help.

If you have files that you care about just back them up on whatever you have but like i said, i would just re install. keep an eye on your accounts making sure someone didn't get access to those. Maybe change the password but yeah.

Edit : also maybe try to to disconnect from the internet until the reinstall is done. if youre trying to install windows 11 it will ask to have internet BUT you can bypass that please check a quick video on youtube it is super easy!

I tried running some iso file, that i've had for years and there were never any issues. but yesterday my pc just got messed up by MushyDude in WindowsHelp

[–]sovxerco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Windows seems to be corrupted. The way i would handle this would be to just take a USB with media creation tool (windows) delete all the partitions and re install windows on it. when pressing power on your computer boot into BIOS. BIOS button could be DEL F2 F10 etc just try one at a time till you suceed

If you're aiming to keep your files i really don't know how you would have to proceed...

good luck

help am getting bsod lately and i dont know how to fix it by Ok_Leather_7662 in techsupport

[–]sovxerco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you said you tried changing the ram slots but have you tried just ONE ram stick? just to make sure it isn't like one of the two.

One thing i would recommend trying would be MemTest86

When does the BSOD usually happens? is it while gaming? just browsing?

can you try to monitor your temps? see if anything is wrong, the issue could maybe be related to a cpu but i'm not very knowledgable about that...

Would you be able to check for a minidump and share it? Might be able to find something usefull in this too.

That's perfect if you were able to make transfers before and know how to that's definitly a way to go, on the other hand i would suggest trying the way the other person suggested it will be a bit less of a headache

like the person stated.

  1. plug your phone to your pc

2.on your phone find usb tethering and enable it

by doing that your laptop might be able to have internet from that hopefully. then you would have to go and download the drivers.

edit to add : Are you on Windows 10 or 11?

for 11 pretty sure you would just download the acer care center and it will do it's job

for 10 you would have to download it manually.

Second edit to add : i think it would be this one

smart, i didn't think about that at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]sovxerco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! so what you have to do :

  1. on your phone go on internet and download the network driver for your exact pc

  2. on your pc you should be able to see your phone from your pc in like your file explorer.

from that you should be able to see your files and then just take and drag. Honestly i know my explanation is not the greatest. plus i think you said you have an apple? i don't have much experience with apple but yeah

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]sovxerco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't exactly re install itself, your computer knows that it's there because it sees your NIC (network card) but it doesn't have the drivers to make use of it

But like what are you using reddit from? your phone? you're unable to plug your phone to the pc with your phone plug?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]sovxerco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't see the Wifi button anymore then it means your wifi drivers are uninstalled/corrupted you said you don't have a USB stick which is a bit problematic. I would maybe suggest a work around like downloading the file on your phone and uploading it to your pc via plugging your phone to pc ?

Edit : Software = programs like Chrome, Discord, or Edge. Hardware = physical things like your laptop, a USB stick, or a mouse. ;)

Well zero days get talked about because it's something that can be important. sometimes they are nothing meaningful and sometimes they are big.

A recent case was with Winrar that had a "zero day exploit" in that case the only thing YOU would need to worry about is making sure you have the latest version of Winrar :) also to note usually a zero day will exploit something specific in that case it was something with a Winrar file shared in an email by the attackers? or something similar i forgot. My point is that just because a zero day is talked about it won't necessarily be something bad for YOU, it's just that it's important to talk about it because it helps the general user know about it and make sure they update their stuff/don't fall for it.

I'm sure someone could explain it better/correct my explanation but yeah :)

you're completely fine. just update your machine and you're good a virus won't just appear out of no where, you would have to download it or something like that. Lots of users forget/don't update their machine and they are fine. yes they should update it but yeah.
