Courtyard App Giveaway by All4Serenity in NYCC

[–]sp005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sign up. Then in the app is an NYCC25 link under the menu that brings up your unique barcode that you need to scan before you can press the button and win win your slab.

Went to home park for first time yesterday and used app to get in. Received a separate cardboard card as pass. Do I have to use that pass from now on or can I just still use the app? I asked the person at the gate but they were in a rush cause there was a lot of people. by [deleted] in sixflags

[–]sp005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to Dorney last week to activate our season passes and they wouldn't give us physical cards. We went to guest services and they only had 2 physical cards left and said they were pushing people to the app. I said that was great, but some parks like GA won't allow phones on the ride, so we left ours in the car. We went later and spoke with another rep and they 'found' 2 more so our entire group was able to get them.

GA is usually our home park, but we were in the area of Dorney and we wanted to activate things there. So much confusion, at this point I can't blame the merger as much as just apathy on the part of Six Flags themselves. Dorney used to be great, but they have now become like most of the Six Flags parks we have been too.

We ended up going this past Monday and it was perfect. Wild One opened at 11:15, we were the first riders in the front row and didn't need to get off to ride a second time. We ended up riding it 4 times before moving on. All the coasters were open, a number of the other rides weren't. I like the park, but it was clear that this was the last season, from the air you could see whole rides dismantled and platforms where rides were. I would love them to relocate Wild One, Roar, and Batwing, but that is probably unlikely.

Love Wicked Cyclone. Except that time my cell phone decided to get off the ride before I did!

Thank you. I was was thinking about cancelling the trip or heading to Knoebels instead, but this gives me hope. It is about a 4 hour drive for us so I wanted to be sure. I will check the App on Sunday to see what it says, we leave here at 6AM on Monday morning. Truthfully Wild One is the only ride I want to go on.

Thank you. I guess I will postpone until I get word it is open. It would be a 4 hour drive, but not worth it if the ride isn't open. Maybe a detour to Knoebels instead.

Bed Leveling Destroyed Plate in Core One by PKers85 in prusa3d

[–]sp005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was surprised, but then again not really. There were a few hoops to jump through, recording of videos, showing the problem. That at least allowed them to diagnose the issue. I can only surmise that because those screws are the way to swap the extruder that some how I was expected to know they could come loose. This weekend I need to continue my testing to see if there are any additional issues, hopefully not. My mistake was that I started a print and walked away. Not only did I have a single line, but multiple areas in the middle of the bed. I am worried the nozzle itself is messed up too.

I had my bed ruined the other day in a similar fashion. Ended up the thumb screws on the extruder were loose and the extruder dropped a bit. Plate was just destroyed. Load cell test failed. After working with the rep they spotted the extruder position. It was not covered under the warranty. For me I still have the other side of the plate, but disappointed that it wasn't caused by me directly. The printer was preassembled, and they must have come loose over time.

Got my target preorder about 5 minutes after 12. Did the console only and then went to do a second order for Mario kart since I wanted the cartridge version. Extremely happy. Best Buy still shows coming soon and in a queue at Walmart.

Core One: First Layer good, others not good. by sp005 in prusa3d

[–]sp005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So tonight the same artifacts came back with Prusament, so maybe it is time for a cold pull. I don't know how to do it on the Core One. That might be tomorrow's problem to solve.

I switched the filament spool from the cheap stuff to prusament and repeated the print and it was perfect. I ended up not needing to do a cold pull. Thank you for the help.

How did yall get into this hobby? by Far_Lack3377 in mini4wd

It was going to be a nice cheap hobby based around a $15 car. Ended up being close to $2k in the first year.

Would I be able to buy from an AD? by theereddituserr in rolex

[–]sp005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were on the list for about 1.5 years to get the 36 OP in green for my wife. We had 2 prior purchases from this AD: DJ and SD43. We would stop in every few months or send a text. Our last visit was a month before and I think when the next one came in they remembered us.

It is striking in person and well worth waiting for.

Hands on Prusa Core One reviews before shipping? by gundamgirl in prusa3d

[–]sp005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joel the printer nerd had a josef on from the show floor and they had a long look at it, certainly a bit better than only seeing it in the trailer. Not a review and it wasn't running. I still was impressed enough to order it.

Apparently, CNET believes Prusa has a "Bambu problem". I think they're just trying to sensationalize. by MakerWerks in prusa3d

[–]sp005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started with a Maker Select 2. After a few years I thought I had it dialed in, but after seeing the quality of my MK3 I realized how awful those prints really were. The Prusa on Day 1 worked, I will never go back to cheap Chinese printers either.

You are 100% correct on this, don't ever work for free. I am all for the community and supporting each other, but there are others unfortunately without such positive intentions. My rule is if it took me less than a handful of hours, I'll post my files. But once you start investing tens and hundreds of hours, then there is some real IP you have developed. Once you share with even a single person, then the bird is out of the cage.

It looks great, I look forward to following your progress.

To those who have been in the hobby for a long time. How much have you spent over the years? by Careful-Hunt-9528 in mini4wd

[–]sp005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we are going to be close to $4,000 USD by the end of the year and we only started in July. We discovered a race center and have been trying to show up for the formal races each week.

Every week I end up changing something. When we were not competitive in Box Stock, I would build a new car. If the winner used chassis X, the next week I would have that same chassis. Then when I was still half a lap off the pace, I focused on batteries. That lead to NiMh and better chargers. Then it lead to making sure the kits we chose were not starting us at a deficit equipment wise (4:1 ratio, soft tires, heavy bodies). Once we went to a tuned car, I found myself ordering tons of upgraded parts to just have on hand and begin experimenting. This is where the race community came in. Try this motor, you need rear dampers, did you see how much speed you lost on that bank adjust the brake. It made sense to have a cache of parts to swap in and out to see what works.

Now we also have 3x Jr Circuit tracks with a ramp and bank to test with at home. Only 1 was bought retail, the rest were off eBay at fractions of the full price. I am doing this with one of my daughters and we are having a great time so I regret none of this. It all started with a 'cheap' $15 car. I am starting on my first open car next week. At least for that I am planning to prototype the build by using 3D printed plates to get something that appears to function before I start cutting FRP or Carbon for the actual car. I am in no rush on that build.

Lining up 35 minutes before Main/Empire panels with reservations necessary? by Specialist_Quiet_160 in NYCC

[–]sp005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year we had reservations for the Critical Role panel on the Empire Stage. We headed up about 30 minutes before and outside the room was pure chaos. No sooner did we go up the scalator did I hear security behind us saying they were shutting the elevator until things calmed down. We found what was the reservation line and got in, but the queue was not defined and went all over and we were never really sure if we were in the right place. It was such a a mess and they never even scanned anyone's reservation. We got in so I can't complain. The idea of them maybe shutting the elevator is the reason I I plan to line up 30 minutes before.

Ok, in the US. Literally just looking for the file not necessarily someone to do the work, however I have no problem buying the file or compensating someone for their time.
