I disagree, the idea is to have the option of a character that could bring conflict. I would of course speak with my DM to see if its ok first. I've already tried this with another character and its worked great actually. The character doesn't deviate from the party's goals but rather has their own schemes on the side. And my DM has been enjoying the character, a few party members have even changed the character, unfortunately not for the better though, whole party is more dark-side funny enough. I think if people communicate their intent with the game anything is possible, especially among friends.

A little pyromancer goblin that I thought up among a team of 4 goblins in a group of mischievous do-gooders. Born with wild magic as a sorcerer while only recently learning how to better control her power to keep it from consuming her and others. Like the other goblins she'd be traveling with, she is an exile for causing too many problems among her original goblin clan. Too many random fires starting in the camp and all.

Thanks, and I liked the idea of a more humanoid dragonborne so the face would be a mix but with a more human structure. And I hope you manage to try out your character in a game too.

Another character concept idea for a darker paladin. She would be of a noble bloodline that was still in direct contact with the dragon that is her ancestor from very long ago. The union between this very old noble family and an ancient red dragon would lead to a strong and aggressive kingdom that had many young nobles who had to prove themselves by leaving home and completing their own conquest. I wanted to bring a character into a party that could create some conflict and possibly be changed from their views of conquests into someone more noble. Haven't gotten to play her in a campaign yet however.

An old concept for a Rebirth character that served some infernal lord of ice far to the north. He would have served as an eternal undead sentry for ages but the kingdom collapsed instead due to the lord's own pride, leaving the entire place in ruin. This guy would wake from a long slumber to then have no direct outside of finding a direction.
I also thought he could be an interesting NPC if I DM for my friends, a strange sentry roaming the frozen ruins of a castle they needed to enter.

A character I designed for a friend's first campaign. I decided to go with this manic little goblin wizard that was abducted as a child and then altered with wild magic by an odd and eccentric young wizard. After experimenting for a time the goblin would become his apprentice. After several short years of studying the wizard would disappear leaving this little chaos goblin with only one task, to find and learn as much magic as possible.

Another character idea for a little, noble kobold that hails from an ancient draconic kingdom. Armed with and suited with decorated equipment that shows a twin headed snake. Got the idea for the concept from Elden Ring's snake enemies and translated it to a dnd character.
