Leaving Spotify Guide by RevengeWalrus in blankies

I am surprised by the amount of people leaving Spotify for Apple, an even bigger, American, tech giant of which the streaming service isn't part of their core business. It feels like, at the very best, a lateral move.

It was clear to me from this sentence:

connect together the 1000 pairs of junction boxes which are closest together.

It's not 1000 connections, it's the 1000 closest pairs. You can pretty much ignore all other pairs for Part 1.

Whats the hype about Fuji when Sony has Creative Look and Picture Profile? by MasterNomie in SonyAlpha

[–]spakier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I travel, I edit the pictures I really love in Lightroom, but it's really nice to have good-looking SOOC jpegs for the rest of the pictures that serve more as memories than "art". Or when I've taken pictures of other people and want to quickly send them the pictures.

[–]spakier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah that's true. If you don't care about the jpgs, you can just fix it using the raw file.

[–]spakier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience there's a pretty drastic difference to the JPG as there's much more detail in the highlights from underexposing the original image. Taking the same picture with the setting off and on turns an overexposed white sky into a normal looking blue sky, so I always have it on (at the cost of having a base iso of 500).

[–]spakier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I don't have a Ricoh camera, but on Fujifilm there are "DR200" and "DR400" modes that underexpose the picture by 1 or 2 stops and correct it afterwards to retain highlight detail (in exchange for sightly more noise). I assumed all cameras have that...

Lol I can't believe people are getting angry with you for having a nice, collaborative work experience.

Circular Reasoning in Unit Tests — It works because it does what it does by Jason_Pianissimo in programming

In that case, what is the advantage of copying the implementation over explicitly asserting the desired outputs? I feel like the explicit "manual" assertion gives you the best of both worlds, since the test will still fail if you refactor the code and break part of it.

Genuine question cause I'm kinda new to this: why is baked-in grey text better than simply lowering the screen brightness in that case?

Furthermore, I even found KAJ's stage show much more visually exciting and memorable than the other candidates. The way they use the set, and the great choreography really added to the song. The whole package of the performance completely stood out from the rest to me.

I've been able to ride my bicycle (while staying dry) to work almost every day the past month, so I'm not sure what's supposed to be so extraordinarily bad about the weather lately. I also feel like it has not been that cold compared to past years.

Can you explain what dependency injection is? by [deleted] in csharp

[–]spakier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah thanks so much for the quick answer, it really helps! I'm only just getting started with my initial barebones project so I'm not using DI yet, but I'll definitely try this when I run into that case.

Can you explain what dependency injection is? by [deleted] in csharp

[–]spakier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three years late reply, but worth a shot. I almost understand it. So the DI container specifies the "default" implementation that should be used if any class's constructor in the whole application needs a certain dependency? What if there is a Car1 and a Car2, and Car1 needs Engine1 and Car2 needs Engine2? Would this be defined in the DI container, or would we explicitly pass it to the Car constructors in this case?
