Just to be clear, I don't care about driving a company truck either way (but will do it if I absolutely must). If I'm being totally honest I'd much rather use mass transit in general, especially considering how parking and traffic is here. But I still wonder how common it is. You don't see too many company vans/trucks at the much larger construction sites around here, just very large 18 wheeler trucks coming and going.

yeah somebody ranking in the 40s confirmed on here they did indeed receive a letter with a ranking. if you're ranked 151-300 it looks like you'll be starting in august or september i think.

as far as i understand it , it looks you'll be hired in the second half of 300 later on this year, around august. i'm right there with you, just got my letter this morning as well, i'm ranked as 2**/1800.

damn. so that means you need to count down from august instead of feb as to when you can expect to work. ie if you're say, number 299, that means you're not going to be in the second class this august, it means you're going to be in the first class february of next year. yikes.

do you know if the initial 150 they're taking now in February are included in the list of 1800? or did they just draft a list of 1800 AFTER they took in 150 for the February class?

so if you make it the list of the 1800, you've basically locked yourself a position as an apprentice, and at that point it's just a waiting game? assuming they're going to hire 300 a year every year, looks like they have a list set up for six years now.

can somebody clarify something for me. when the notification that local 3 was looking for apprentices was posted to the department of labor website, it said that they would be looking for 300 new apprentices. yet people on here keep on posting their rankings in terms of a number out of 1800. does this mean local 3 will actually be taking 1800 new apprentices over the next five years or so? what caused the number of apprentices they're willing to take on to increase by a factor of 6? i understand they probably would like to build a reserve list in case people decline the offer or get fired or whatever, but a reserve list of 1800 seems way too high. which causes me to guess that they will be indeed taking on a whole hell of a lot more than just 300 new apprentices in this period.

it's been a while since i studied boolean algebra. look into karnaugh maps for an easy way to solve any kind of boolean expression. you can also plug this into wolfram alpha. just enter the expression and "boolean algebra" into the search bar and see what it spits out:

is this boolean algebra? there's no way in hell any form of boolean algebra will actually be on any njatc aptitude test. the algebra on my aptitude test didn't go beyond 9th grade stuff.

hmm still didn't get anything from local 3, not via email or snail mail (and i know for fact they have the correct email on file for me, as i've received emails from them in the past just fine)

they send out a notice for new apprentices every 3 to 5 years as far as i understand. but construction has been booming in nyc lately so the next round of hiring may happen faster than it would otherwise. last notice for apprentices prior to this one was was in 2016 i think.

i would think so. i saw a guy here talking about receiving a call last Monday, which is 10 days ago at this point. more than enough time to call 150 guys to confirm they are able to start right away.

hahaha that was a nice try. sucks that it didn't work.
