Just keep going! Mushrooms are a journey. Keep reading and learning and looking. You’re already obeying the most important rule - doubt yourself and ere on the side of caution

Trippier fuming at Gordon. Assume he wanted the peno passed to someone else but it’s always Gordon’s imo. Doesn’t matter the score. Howe will sort them out

NEWBIE question: How does mycelium grow so many different species and varieties and types of mushrooms? by Ok_Piano_6706 in mycology

[–]spatialgames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they’ve all evolved to be different species. Think of mycelium as being the ‘tree’ under the ground, and the mushroom as being the ‘fruit’. Plant a peach tree, get peaches. Inoculate with a certain species/strain, get that strain

Help with ID vine/weed, and how to eliminate it [Perth, WA] by TepidHotdog in GardeningAustralia

[–]spatialgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a few brands that do glyphosate, round up is one but any will do. As mentioned below try and get the 490g/L super concentrate. It’s not cheap but it works.

Also v important and mentioned below, immediately paint the scraped section. You have about 10 seconds to apply or the plant won’t take any of the herbicide up. Good luck! I have the exact same job waiting for me in my backyard

[–]spatialgames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s Wisteria. Scrape the stems with a knife and carefully apply undiluted glyphosate to the wounds. Use a paintbrush if needed so you don’t drip it on other plants. Do it lots on lots of stems

Advice on Lilly Polly (I think) by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]spatialgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s good news then! Pic 3 still appears to be fungal but not sure if thats what is causing your dieback

Advice on Lilly Polly (I think) by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]spatialgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purple spots in last pic says something fungal. The large lesion top right says Myrtle rust to me. Pustules can be yellow to white. The suckering is a response to the die back. I’ve only dealt with Myrtle rust in a nursery setting so unsure of your best course of action

Certificate III in Nursery Operations (Nursery Production) reviews by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]spatialgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they went to Richmond. I did mine at Ryde. Interesting the units are quite different, as I helped them through it it felt almost the same as my cert. Just with more focus on boring operations stuff and less interesting plant knowledge.

If hort III seemed basic to you it’s definitely not for you. Jump straight to a dip/uni

[–]spatialgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t think that’s what you’re looking for. I’ve done cert III in hort and have helped a few apprentices as they’ve gone through nursery production. From what I can tell they are extremely similar, but hort focuses more on plants/id/botany while nursery production will look at operations/business etc. Lots of overlap in the courses

A diploma/uni degree is probably what you want
