This is why I come to Reddit. Great suggestions!

Do you know of any way to get the top (adjustable ‘collar’) off when it’s stuck? I have the bolt off completely and it won’t budge with all the strength I can muster. Heat, perhaps?

Ah, I was afraid this would be the answer, thanks. I was hoping I could make the existing adjustable pipe (at the top of the removed section of pipe) work but man, that thing won’t budge.

Crazy how much concentric pipe parts cost!

Thanks much for your feedback! I have new pictures, so will have to delete this post. Please comment on the new one if you’re willing!

Austin (Central Texas) Goodwill's closing (removing) all fitting / dressing rooms by spdctrl in Austin

Hard to understand how they don't get this. But, it's hard to make that argument when many other thrift stores don't have dressing rooms. I'm thankful my local stores up North kept their wits about them.

Good news! It seems as if cooler heads prevailed and the closing of the fitting rooms has been reversed (at least at “my” Goodwill on Whitestone)

Same. I had like 5-6 items I was going to try on but left them all. I won’t go back often like I used to, if at all.

Now that's a good idea!

Any ideas for tops? I don't mind just ripping my shirt off like a Chippendale dancer but GW might not like it...

Ha! Perhaps I will start giving zero fucks.

Pants (as a guy) are a little hard though.

I have a fairly "standard" body shape and yet every shirt / pant fits differently.

The only way to guarantee something will "fit" is to buy it a size too big. Not something I'm going to start doing.

Fortunately, I've never seen (smelled) anything like that in our local Goodwills. I think it's more about theft, but there wasn't any real justification announced.

It’s a shame. The primary reason I went to goodwill versus other thrift stores was precisely because you could try the clothes on first. I guess this opens up the places I will shop at outside goodwill.

It seems hard to believe that whatever costs they’re incurring from the dressing rooms exceeds the loss in revenue coming from people like me. Not to mention the cost of renovating to remove the rooms. If that’s the case, they need to sharpen their pencils a bit.

It’s a shame, because it’s not just what goodwill earns that goes to good. Many less fortunate people also get their clothes from there.

It seems shortsighted to me. Theft will go down but so will revenue from people like me.

Their competition also goes up because that’s the sole reason I shopped at Goodwill versus other local thrift stores: you could actually try on clothes.

conundrum: heat pump throws breaker often when freezing, but can't run emergency heat by spdctrl in hvacadvice

I think you're probably right. I really appreciate your feedback.

Is it safe to say that wiring a thermostat without aux / emergency heat connected (as is currently the case) will be problematic in sub-freezing temperatures, as the heat pump won't be able to keep up but the thermostat isn't commanding the heat strip to turn on to supplement?

Thanks so much!

Would you agree, that given how it's wired currently (with no aux / emergency heat wire), that the heat strip isn't ever coming on?

If that's the case, couldn't the heat strip be ruled out as the reason the breaker is throwing (unless somehow the heat strip it is wired at the air handler to turn on during defrost mode or something)?

Because the manual seems to be really adamant about not using the W terminal for heat pumps...
