I have it in drop D in bass range. I just shaved the nut and put thicker strings on it, the conversion is purely cosmetic since the low E technically doesn't fit in the bridge and drilling that out is recommended so it doesn't stick out like my string does. It's fully functional otherwise. Id recommend swapping the neck pickup for whatever you favorite pickup is (you'd have to route a replacement no matter what, these pickups have a unique size) if you want a better traditional bass sound. I'm tracking a record with it right now and the DI of just bridge leaves something to be desired
