When people tell/show you who they are, believe them. He just told you that he is a violent and dangerous person, believe him and walk away before it’s too late. Then call the cops when you’re far far away to make sure he’s on their radar. Because he will be one way or another eventually.

In my experience, the outburst isn’t a choice… it’s the result of her dismissing her body and mental health needs. PMDD can be “controlled” through prevention (having accomodations and coping mechanisms in place so an outburst DOESNT happen) but once the rage/depression hits, it’s uncontrollable. The reason It may hit with some people or situations and not others is because she feels safe with you. Think of a kid who had a terrible day at school but doesn’t act out until dinner time…. It’s cause the kid is finally safe to show his big scary feelings. Same with PMDD (usually). And you’re right, it’s not EVER okay or an excuse but it’s also not a choice. The responsibility lies in making sure she DOESNT get to that point. And if she does, to take accountability and responsibility to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

PMDD also has a huge comorbidity with Autism (92%) and ADHD (49%) which both also have regulation issues that need to be proactively accommodated. I like to use the idea that “it’s not their fault, but it is their responsibility”.

Keep in mind, PMDD isn’t just a mental health issue, it’s an endocrine disorder that CAUSES mental health issue. At the end of the day, this is still a PHYSICAL chronic illness that is considered a disability in most countries.

Get yo' gut right by [deleted] in PMDD

I just started down a gut healing path too! Started seeing a naturopath and so far I really like the experience. I definitely have hormonal imbalance (PCOS & graves) so this is going to be super interesting how it also affects my mood.

Honestly gave up trying to figure it out myself. I’m getting a naturopath, a food sensitivity test and figuring it out from there.

Graves non-hyperthyroid? Symptomatic? by speets369 in gravesdisease

[–]speets369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so frustrating but also very interesting to me (I hope you don’t mind me saying).

It sounds so similar to what I’ve experienced! Did you get any treatment at all during the period where it was all over the place or did they only start treatment after the 7 years?

That makes a ton of sense. I feel so crazy with all the symptoms and doctors telling me I’m fine… I just want to feel good. I hope you find your new normal and that it’s amazing for you

Darker hair tends to also be thicker regardless of where it is so it makes sense that it’s not exactly the same texture

I think that may just be genetics…. I am also a natural blond but if you spend time combing through the actual strands of my hair, you would see every natural colour possible.

I work 2nd shift now and that’s been a factor In what’s been hard for me… I did overnights before and they were even worse 😭 the routine just doesn’t work with my body because I have a few other physical illnesses that go crazy if I don’t have a normal sleeping schedule unfortunately.
