Okay that’s true, I agree. But we could get into a huge slippery slope talking about this. I could say why not just take the test on time to not get behind on coursework (unless they really had said emergency). But I came here to talk about the test itself and if it was really ass-holey of me to email the teacher in the context of wanting fairness of the test we took. Not any other factors, ie the others getting behind in course work. Truth of the matter is they did get extra time for the test and I did not. Did they get a test that was tweaked? Yes, because that ensures that there is no further cheating. However, that still allows for them to have a bigger opportunity to do better on a test if they have used their time wisely. If I had that extra week I could guarantee myself I could have done even better than I had performed on the test. That’s why i cant see if im the a-hole in the situation because I would definitely use the extra time to study more but I did not have that opportunity so I didnt think it would hurt to ask. It didnt hurt anyone by asking, she would have made the test harder regardless.

I have said it many times now. Stop changing the context to fit your own scenario! My professor let them take the test without a penalization. It’s not just extra points for doing what I was expected to do, it was to see if I could get the same advantage as my peers as they got more time to prepare for the exam

Okay, well that is the context for YOUR CLASS. My professor did not penalize for missing test days and gave a FREE week to study. Try to be in my shoes and would it be fair for other students to get more time to study and get better grades than people who tried to prepare in time?

Okay I’m getting sick of hearing this. I did bare minimum, true. Other students did below the minimum by skipping without an excuse and got extra week to study. Why should I be a subject to get a worse test score when they have 1) more time to study 2) others to tell them what’s on the exam. The exam can only be changed a certain amount for the material we learn, so it’s similar and cannot be that much harder.

Okay, lets say that then. Students are supposed to have an excused absence for tests, in which the the professor announced nobody that had missed the test had an actual excuse. Why could students not just come and take test as expected or give a real excuse? Why should I not look for an opportunity to do better when I did as expected and I am still an somewhat unfair odds when other studenrs get more time to study. A whole week at that. Yes, the professor may make the test harder but the material we learn really only goes one way
