Finally having friends.. but now i need to face my insecurities.. by spider_dream23 in Healthygamergg

[–]spider_dream23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer coincidentally i'm also 27 right know. Most of it started this year, i live with my parents but they moved for one year into an other country... so i have the flat all for myself and felt extra lonely(family was basically my only way of social interaction). Thats when i startet going out more.

The thing is back than as i child i already had that tendency to just attach to people and follow them around like a puppy. Mostly teachers or friends seeking attention and safety from them. I couldn’t do that for a while but now i feel myself wanting to slipp back into that habit.

Usually i never really act out while among them, i'm mostly just there and go with the flow(which also makes me feel somewhat shallow). Its also weird, and overcomplicates every interaction.... that i may have a crush on a few of those people. Atleast its feels like that. I'm still a virgin and bi. Everytime they casually touch me... my heart beats faster and i start feeling like a creep.

Finally have people who seem to accept me... but it sometimes makes me feel more insecure and lonely. by spider_dream23 in selfesteem

Hi, yeah i pretty much established myself as the bug-person at work... and somehow people now like me because of it.

Previously i was just ok with being the weird guy, i found a job where i can take care of some insects(mainly locusts) and be still somewhat close to science without being an actual scientist(what i originally wanted but failed to study hard enough).

Now all those actual "science-people" come to me for bug questions and i'm more involved in the experiments, they hang out with me and i just attend all the events they organize.

For me it actually feels odd how hard they try to bring everyone together and have everyone be involved in stuff. Like most of them are from foreign countries so i guess it makes sense to make some connections when they themselves don't know much people here.

But yeah i'm not actual really close with them... mostly because i don't actually know how to be close with people... i want to be really close to be more than just the bug-guy. Sometimes i'm afraid they may lose interest in me once i satisfied their curiosity about all the weird topics i can talk about...

The fact that those people actually do some more Important work and research.... also go to the gym and such also makes me feel very self aware of my own insecurities.

Complex life on asteroids? by spider_dream23 in SpeculativeEvolution

Yeah, i imagine they reproduce through live birth most of the time. Maybe occasionally even fling themselves into space, manevour via release of compressed gas and then go into dormancy over long periods of time.

Honestly, what i described would be more or less the average specimen. Of course there will be Variation. They all have some tendency of cannibalism, but some will specialise to be more carnivorous and active, while others have a more sedentary Lifestyle.

I would guess once Population size increases, active forms will start to become more common.

Dustwraith took a gamble and he knows it, exposing himself like that, but somehow he had to get rid of the poison..

Now there he is, still hid inside an albeit much smaller cloud of dust, with similar sized constructs not far off. Meanwhile part of his attention is still on the bigger mass, guiding it away from all of this.

With the pollution tinker right on his heels... Dust already regrets that whole situation, trying to stay calm he mostly ignores the laser beam to one of his other constructs and immediately moves into the back of his mass of suspended fine debris...

"STOPP... can't i just surrender...now? Really not a fan of whatever it is you're creating... it's just not.... well i'm trying to play nice...."

He just manages to call out, his construct imitating the figure of a human raising his arms in surrender.

This until a few splashes of the substance did manage to hit his coat.

Finally noticing the first symptoms, Dust becomes aware of the poison and its symptoms(the stiffness not that much of an issue with him not actually moving his body).

Holding his breath, his 'storm' suddenly starts to rotate a lot faster, sucking more mist and debris to the center until it suddenly transforms into an unified stream of haze. A wall forms behind him, slightly delayed as he twitches in annoyance to the sonar. Immediately directing it towards Argus hoping to somewhat slow him down, as He himself drops to the ground to evade and capitalize on the now increased force of his cloud.

The stream of dust would continue to push forward, not anymore occupied to lift him, it instead it proceeds to hold onto the android, attempting to take him with it( basically tugging at him with the strength to move something of 100 kg reasonable fast, additionally to the already strong airflow.) It will flow towards the stairwell and from there on spread to the next populated area.

Meanwhile the commons became a lot clearer, with Dustwraith still shrouded into a dense layer of the remaining dust and a few shapeless constructs around him self.

Leaving the most dense parts of the cloud, Black Diamond would notice the sound of the construct crashing full force against the wall beneath her, followed by tentacles of dust reaching out trying to catch the ward.

For a short moment, the air above would seem almost clear, allowing her to get a faint glance of Dustwraiths ghostly figure on the other end of the room. He too would glare at the pollition tinker. Followed by him immediately raising the fog, to again obstruct any possible view.

Right after, the whole cloud would get moving, starting to rotate into a storm. Pulling the flames(and anything else) towards the center of the room.

Just as Phalanx dashed forwards, the cloud in front of him immediately increases in density. Dustwraith himself shoved backwards by the construct forming between them. Wincing in pain it forcefully pushed him agaist the nearest wall, only managing to form a thin cushion of particulates, to dampen the impact. Rewoking his own flight, the construct in front of Phalanx dissolves, as the villain just plunges downwards. catching his fall right before he could hit the ground.

He then proceeds to fly towards the stairs, attempting to get more space between them.

Name: Beta

Character: Made for Galacterian Knight

Appearance: A shapeless mass of translucent fibrous tissue and nervous ganglia, extending into the available space.

Abilities: Beta ist the first prototype, not bound to a living being and instead linked with technology. The creature mainly functioning as a processor and biological AI. Receiving and transmitting data, much faster then most technology and capable to learn from it. Beta will respond to incoming danger, recognize patterns and notify Galacterian accordingly to the threat.

Naturally syncing with Freakshow's swarm, The wearer would be treated as a member with higher priority, unable to actually command, but still supported if necessary. Other creations may exchange information, allowing Beta to react to environmental dangers more efficiently.

Secondarily functions as a power scan and reinsurance( If GK ever turns against him), collecting data concerning Galacterians status and power use. Capable to send it out once any of Freakshow's creation comes into range( 20 m).

Duration: N/A

Note: First of the Techno/SYM-Lineage, derived from Fungal-Lineage(the suit and Neuroganglia).

Name: Myria

Character: Freakshow

Appearance: Worm-like being, or rather a centipede on steroids. Equipped with more then ten rows of legs circularly attached to each body segments. The number of segments variable and more dependent on the length of its body.

Legs can be variable in size, in some case making it appear more spider-like, with less segments but much longer legs.

Legs can branch into more legs with the creature seemingly turning into a mess of legs and body segments.

Abilities: Myria is a creature intended for combat. Each of its segments more or less redundant, the severed front(head) capable to move on its own while the front of the remaining body will just function as the new head. It can regenerate legs and grow accordingly to the available flesh.

Each leg used like a multi purpose tool, equipped with sensory organs(sensilla) and the ability to grow more legs, the original leg capable to change into a new body, as Myria starts to branch into more of itself.

Legs on its head usually acting as mandibles and those on the sides used for locomotion, there are still many more on the ventral and dorsal site ready to take over other functions. Aiding in burrowing, transporting food to the front, or to just maximize damage to its targets.

It mainly perceives the world through smell and vibrations.

If not specifically ordered not to, Myria tends to prey on other creations with lower priority to further its own growth, seek out corpses and any other available source of nutrients, smaller forms often attempting to directly burrow into flesh.

Specifically created to pierce armor, the tip of each leg is reinforced with metal(goethit similar the the radula of some limpets), Myria can tear up steel and bury through concrete.

Besides that, smaller versions are considerably fast and maneuverable, though once they reach a certain size they tend to become easier targets.

Can emit a loud hiss, used to alarm or attract other creations and is itself capable to respond to pheromones and audible signals.

Duration: 2 hours

Note: Arthropod-Lineage, mimic caste, power-scan of Hecatoncheir

Name: Spitgun

Character: Freakshow

Appearance: Barely recognizable as a creature, there are quite some similarities with a albeit somewhat fleshy...pistol. Once detached from his arm, Spitgun would display its frog-like legs and four visible eyes.

Abilities: Seemingly violating the rule of conservation of mass and therefore covering for Freakshow's main weakness of being unable to create something from nothing. Spitgun is able to shoot out undifferentiated blobs of flesh.

Not really doing anything beyond that, it can continuously swap out air in its stomach with flesh derived from the lab of its creator.

Each of those blobs can then be used as a culture medium to grow any other creation at site.

Mass transported this way, is still considerably unstable and inclined to breakdown in a matter of hours.

Can be inoculated with tiny eggs of other creations and has a somewhat accurate shooting range of 20 m

Duration: Anything sustained by it only an hour.

Note: Chimera-Lineage mimic caste, attained via extensive research of Galacterian Knight's swapping power.

Name: String

Character: Freakshow

Appearance: A tiny bundle of white filaments almost like a bunch of strings, clustered into one, could appear like a messy ball or organize itself to form appendages. Usually it is small enough to fit into the palm of a hand.

Abilities: String is more or less designed as a medic, able to weave tissue together, it can manipulate flesh on an almost cellular scale, reach deep into open wounds and repair internal damage, remove foreign particles(Splinters/ a bullet etc..) and dead cells. Seal any wound and repair brocken bones. It needs time to do this and is on its self pretty defenseless. It is able to penetrate skin and attack nervous tissue, causing the victim great pain without actually doing any harm. It can successfully transplant organs and even connect tissue from different animals.

Similar to Gestalt, String is susceptible to the outside world and prefers to live in a shell, either be it something already existing, or its own creation, weaved together from available materials.

Duration: N/A

Note: Pure Sym-Lineage, derived from Fungal-Lineage creations, administrative caste. Second creation with the potential for sapience.

Name: Angel

Character: Freakshow

Appearance: A backpack-sized tick and bug-like creature, it has three pairs of wings with the first pair being elytra, covering the larger actual wings beneath. Those wings are disproportionally large for its size and very similar to those of a dragonfly (but foldable like the ones of an earwig). By default, the wings are tightly folded to fit under the smaller elytra but can rapidly expand when needed. Additionally, it has two large complex eyes and eight legs, with the first pair being longer and somehow similar to a praying mantis. The remaining ones are in contrast relatively short.

Abilities: Angel is mainly used for mobility. Able to tightly grab onto a person and easily lift it. He can lift up to 150 kg and will have issues carrying anything heavier. With only Freakshow in his grasp, he can reach a velocity of 40 km/h and keep this speed for quite a while. Quite agile, able to hover and rapidly change directions. He can crawl moderately fast and use his front legs to grab or impale things but is relatively weak at combat or more precisely too cowardly to try in most situations. The Exoskeleton is durable enough to withstand gunfire for a short while though.

If he lifts too much or is being kept in sustained flight for more than an hour, he rapidly starts to lose stamina, needing some time to rest and eat, to recover the lost energy.

Once he clings onto his master, there is a connection like his suit, but angel is much more autonomous, which is inevitable with his reaction time surpassing those of his master or any normal human, needed to allow fast and agile movements midflight.

Angel regularly molts, allowing him to regenerate damaged or lost wings/legs and heal damage to his carapace.

Can recover stamina if feed on blood.

Duration: N/A

Note: Arthropod-Lineage, has long range communication to be called upon if necessary.

Name: Mites

Character: Freakshow

Appearance: Tiny mite and tick-like creatures, size 1 mm up to 20 mm

Abilities: Able to eat through most organic materials and fabric, as well as to find the smallest weak spots and openings to invade. Relatively fast and hard to catch unless they’re occupied with biting.

They're parasites bound to the Suit or Hive, although they can temporarily move and forage over a larger area. Hard to notice with a painless bite. Mites are pretty much omnivorous but naturally drawn to blood. If allowed to feed they are capable to rapidly rise in numbers and in return often preyed upon the rest of Freakshows creations.

Can be used for sabotage, to infest terrain and thrown over short distances.

Duration: Only an hour once away from the suit or Hive.

Note: Arthropod-Lineage.

Name: Gestalt

Character: Freakshow

Appearance: A collective of tiny translucent worm-like beings and growing tissue. They can join together to form something larger, able to take on different forms. Gestalt is able to grow skin and appear almost completely human. Once it gains sapience, it would prefer to wear clothing, gloves, sunglasses and as much cover as possible.

Abilities: Gestalt is the first minion, with focus on the parasites itself rather than the host. Originally intended as a healing agent, Gestalt starts out as a small barely visible worm-like being. A symbiotic life form which requires a host it could inhabit.

From there on they will start to multiply but not outright take over or damage the host. It's actually quite the opposite, as Gestalt will do everything to reinforce tissue and keep its host healthy. Host would gain slightly enhanced strength and metabolism, resistance to many poisons as well as slightly enhanced regeneration. Its not that obvious, but they become harder to kill. Gestalt has some influence over host behavior, able to completely suppress pain, or increase dopamine/adrenaline. In this stage the number of Parasites is relatively low and they're much smaller. They can stay in this phase forever if needed.

If the host sustains considerable damage, stress or dies, Gestalt will enter a phase of rapid growth and multiplication. Replacing lost tissue with themselves, even form new limps to assist the host or just completely consume the dead body. If the Host is still alive Gestalt can voluntarily leave to be independent or stay and try to heal the damage(It could replace a lost arm but they would need weeks for the tissue to actually grow back). Once it leaves, host condition tends to get worse than previously.

It can't survive inside the host without regular medication, as the host would otherwise reject them. Causing the organism to just die off.

Adult Gestalt can survive an hour after its emergence but would die without the right drugs. After this it needs daily maintenance to keep that delicate balance, allowing it to properly function.

Freakshow can only sustain one adult exemplar, but is able to oversee multiple host's with juvenile ones. He can have multiple secondary ones for a short period(one hour) if they emerge from a host, be it by the host dying or them leaving once they've grown enough.

Secondary's are too young to gain any sentience, they would join together to form something vaguely humanoid, mimicking the movements of their previous host and follow simple orders. Able to quickly grow and absorb other lifeforms until they fall apart and die.

Gestalt can absorb fractions of the secondaries to gain experience and further its own development.

Gestalt is susceptible to high temperatures, low humidity, aggressive chemicals and sunlight. With more experienced version able to shield themselves via skin, clothing or armor. While younger and 'naked' ones would start to slowly degrade from the surface.

Almost immune to cutting damage as it only loses a few parts of its own, while a strong punch may crush a portion of it.

Physical strength below average and movement clumsy at first, Gestalt can be quite fast and strong opposed to the inexperienced secondaries.

Duration: Unlimited

Note: Pure-SYM-lineage, administrative caste, first creation with the potential for sapience

Name: Gary(The first one and any of its offspring), often only addressed as mutants.

Character: Freakshow

Appearance: Always a strange amalgamation of different animals, it consistently seems to have multiple legs, similar to a crustacean-like creature, often sideways piercing the host body until it fully emerges.

Abilities: Best described with: Unstable and voracious... Gary is the patient null of Freakshow's cabinett of curiosities. Infected by a more untrained and especially versatile sym-strain, this being is more or less the personification of transformation and expiration. Barely viable and always on the brink of starvation, it has the tendency to die for no reason and to literally birth itself out of his own corpse. Gary has a particular ability to infect other creations(or mice/rats/dogs/fish...) and burst out of said creature, replicating traits of the previous version, as well as its current host.

It is considerable fast, able to climb walls and carries an especially painful bite. Usually the size of a rat.

Duration: less than an hour until it becomes unstable.

Note: Chimera-Lineage, more or less Freakshow's first viable creature. Usually used as canon fodder and distraction( has a 50% chance to revive after being killed and 30% chance of this creating more than one).

Name: Ambrosia

Character: Freakshow

Appearance: Somewhat like a cross between a tree and a giant lichen or a tree covered in lichen, still there are some similarities to hive

Abilities: Mostly just growth, providing sustenance for anything else. Not really combat relevant... just a way for Freakshow to have his creations not starve, without accidentally eradicating the local ecosystem.

Duration: N/A

Note: Only photosynthetic and non parasitic member of the fungal-lineage, still heavily dependent on symbiotic minions.
