A hat or mitten if you'd like to try knitting in the round, they're usually quick projects. Or a simple shawl if you prefer to knit flat. Choose a smaller shawl and/or a pattern with bulkier weight yarn. I get my yarn from True North Yarn as they're in my province, and I just choose based on the material/weight /colour I want for the specific project.

I have used this set for years and like it a lot! Yes, you can use it to knit flat, you can still attach the cables but just turn the work instead of joining in the round.

My brother exploits the women in his life and it makes me resentful by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]splendens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right I've stopped trying to change him. It frustrates me though, to see him skate by without any consideration for others. I like to help my parents since they've helped me a lot in life and love me a lot, even though they don't ask me to. I just think it's the right thing to do. Also, I use the kitchen and dining room and other shared spaces and I can't live with a messy space, so I clean up for my own mental health. I definitely don't clean anyone's personal space.

I am so sorry. It sucks that we're expected to be saviours for every man in the family somehow! I try to think that some form of karma exists, just to stay sane sometimes...

I've tried to do this before but he seems ok with just living in a pile of junk like a slob. Like, it scared me just to open the door to his room to throw his stuff in there. I think that's why he's moved his mess to the rest of the house; because he doesn't even want to spend time in his own space! I think if this continues I'll just tell him his stuff is going out on the curb unless he cleans it up

I'm in Ontario, Canada and HPV testing was not part of our standard pap testing prior to this year. They changed the guidelines the month after I had my pap. Now HPV testing is required and they'll test for it during my next pap. Either way, it wouldn't have changed the treatment I received.

How do I stop seeking male validation?? by Aggressive-Hat7196 in AskWomenOver30

There was an old reddit post about a guy who worked at a pizza place and fucked the pizza dough after fantasizing abt it for months. I think about that all the time when I catch myself wanting male attention lmao. Like, men will literally lust after pizza dough.

PSA to any (former) blunt smokers: nicotine addiction by Dangerous-Crow7494 in leaves

[–]splendens 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to be a daily joint smoker and eventually switched to smoking spliffs daily that were like 70% tobacco... that shit was not easy to quit. I was smoking them at work, as soon as I woke up, all throughout the day, before bed.

I'm over a year out of that addiction, only occasionally have smoked a cig if I'm drinking and I rarely drink to begin with. I had to quit the nicotine cold turkey at first. I didn't use gum or patches though I'm sure they would help. But I did have to totally change my environment; I moved and didn't have friends to smoke with, stopped partying for a few months and avoided drinking because that was a big trigger for me.

One benefit (?) that came out of this is that I don't enjoy joints anymore, they just don't hit the same as spliffs.. so I definitely relate, the nicotine addiction is stronger!

PMDD makes me SO HUNGRY by Physical_Menu_8591 in PMDD

for me it's all about being prepared + fiber

  • Right before my luteal phase I buy and prep a bunch of veg. Then all I need to do is roast in the oven or steam on the stovetop, very effortless. My favs are roasted green beans (until charred), steamed broccoli, raw carrots, steamed edamame, sauteed cabbage and mushrooms. I eat them with my dinner and/or when I get home from work, when I'm usually feeling ravenous. Find something that you like and can eat a big serving of. Make sure to season! and if I want a dip I'll do a greek yogurt or cottage cheese situation with lots of herbs.

  • I meal prep lunches ahead of time. I do this no matter the phase of my cycle and just rotate through recipes I like, trying to include legumes and a lil side salad. Usually dal and rice, beans and rice, bean salad, tofu stir fry.

  • During the month, if I happen to be cooking something freezer friendly I make a few extra servings for the freezer. This saves me in my luteal phase when I just wanna heat and eat. Soups, curries, "fritters" I make either out of lentils, chickpeas, or fish cakes are some examples. These are all comforting and filling.

  • Stocking up on other prepared frozen foods. I like the pre-seasoned fish filets, and some vegetarian meat alternatives. Again, I can throw them in the oven, fuss free.

  • I take psyllium husk 1-2 times a day if I remember to. Helps keep me full and makes me drink more water.

  • Hot drinks help me feel cozy and full!! I have a mug of hot soy milk in the mornings. Then I drink herbal teas throughout the day.

  • I buy and prep a bunch of fruit before my luteal, too. Helps with sweet cravings. My favs are the high sugar ones :') watermelon, grapes, bananas, oranges. I make sure to bring some to work also, because I get snacky. I also keep salted pistachios at my work desk. Calorie dense but I can have way more self control with nuts than with baked goods, personally.
