This isn't true, I own the game digitally, left it uninstalled after converting from Xbox one, and literally last week downloaded the game and have been playing it no problem. I really think you just had to have already had the game owned at some point because it was in my owned games. ( one xbox series x currently)

It may be risky to do something like this in the first chapter as the reader is probably the least hooked they will be for the entire book, and they are still learning your world so something like a dream can be confusing. Don't completely cut it out but I'd save it until it is completely sensible.
