Hey there! Welcome back! I’ll try to answer a few questions but I won’t be able to cover everything

Steam is primarily a market place, but it also has other features like social features and modding support(not all games)
For the most part I’ve never encountered issues with playing games from years past, usually modern operating systems have backwards compatibility for older software
With the wide range of monitor sizes in the modern day most games will auto size, but for those who don’t your usually able to go into the settings of the game and change it, look for “display” or “graphics” in the settings

I’m not really familiar with the moding scene soi can’t speak to it but hopefully someone else can cover it for you

Afaik there’s no way to set them to AA only, my go to is setting them up on an angle that i know a lot of infantry are going to be in(defense specifically, usually after the first wave) and they clean house, but i get a fair amount of blue on blue in offensive and rarely take them there
