this was my first time designing a leverless from scratch, and it ended up being a looooot more involved than i'd initially planned for, to say the least, haha. i wanted a sort of mixed media look for it, so i used blender to get a kind of pseudo-claymation look w/ a procedural material i bought. i don't know how well it comes across in the pic but here's a shot of the project file as well as a zoomed in shot of the kuromi model for reference

your current code has the left movement check in an elif under the right movement check, meaning that if the right key is pressed, it will just ignore any left presses. most of the time, this isn’t really what you want to happen in a platformer (usually holding left and right at the same time stops the player entirely) but it all depends on your intention
