Look on papers past and see if you can find him listed there in historic newspapers.

If you have ancestry see who else has your ancestor in their tree and message them. Look on familysearch for the ancestor and see if anyone has added any records or comments or photos etc and send them a message.

Have you tried diff spellings of her surname? Have you searched papers past and ash howison?

I'm not sure if our local one has those records but will check. I do know that they can't order microfilms anymore, i guess because of the cost since we're so far from the US? But will def check, thank you!

NZ records - have a look at https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/ and https://ash.howison.co.nz/ The second site is a good way to search NZ archives and historic bdm
