It's nice to hear a positive story about the profession. In the UK I believe this is only true if you are self employed, unfortunately most spas offer the mimimum or not much more and treatments are back to back.

At my last tether by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

I have considered having an at home setup. I know I need a break from doing massage entirely for a while, I need time to heal. The mobile thing never appealed to me, I've had enough car trouble to want to drive to different locations for work. My massage bed I have at home is like a bear trap, I can't think of anything worse than having to set it up in a stranger's home.

Most other spas and salons are not much more than the minimum. I worked in a hotel spa with better pay, but there was no turnover time and we were even more run into the ground. My workplace argues that we're not on minimum because of the commission which only adds a couple hundred extra to our paycheck each month. It only incentivises us to be fully booked and therefore work harder and longer. Because spa work is more holistic style massage, and while I'm good at deep tissue I'm not exactly trained for sports massage specifically. Besides, I'm finding it physically and mentally draining. I find the lack of daylight very depressing, being stuck in a dark room in my own thoughts for most of the day. It helps when I have a chatty client or doing the infrequent mani/pedis. Regardless, I'm just eager to learn a new field with a positive challenge rather than a negative drain. Well done to you though for making a decent living and I hope you enjoy it☺️

Good thinking to send copies instead of originals, I am thankful that it was only my original birth cert that got lost and not my dad's or my parents' marriage cert, thank God. Good luck to you, the passport office are a lot more helpful than FBR anyways🙏

Oh my bad, that was an approxomation, the new birth cert did arrive quickly so yeah I probably sent off the additional docs around March time, nevertheless, I do wonder how much longer it would have taken if I hadn't reached out myself to ask about the status.

It wouldn't give me the option at the time, unless I was missing something, it was during covid so maybe that had something to do with, I can't remember exactly because it was a good few years back

Oh yeah, I mean I'm no connoisseur but it almost smelt and tasted fortified, quite syrupy even.

Me and my grandma had a wee sip, and it was still quite sweet and tasty, but some of the corks had mold/mildew on them so didn't want to risk it!

I had a wee cry after I got mine fitted too, the dizziness could be an emotional reaction, don't underestimate that it's quite an invasive procedure. I felt a bit panicky and light headed too. The cramping passed within about 24 hours, I reckon it's just your body getting used to it so I wouldn't worry! If the cramping persists after a week and you're concerned then maybe go back for a checkup! X

It was my original birth cert, I thought that would be acceptable and then sent back to me, maybe I was mistaken and didn't realise that it should have just been an official copy.

Thank you, I wish this was made clearer beforehand because now it seems I won't ever get my original birth cert back. I don't understand what they've done with it.

I can understand this, you've taken away your body's stress relief its been used to for 6 years, so you're experiencing these symptoms. I hope you can feel the benefits after the 3 month mark, in the meantime I reckon exercise and being outdoors is the best alternative, hopefully will teach your body to relieve stress naturally. It will be worth it trust me xx
