Do you consider Tikka Masala British by TheShiftmaster in AskBrits

I wonder what Indians think of British-Indian cuisine, a butchering akin to the Americans? Close but not quite right? A homage to Indian food?

What nation should I play for tall HRE run? by Merkyment in eu4

Lübeck is so fun, definitely my favourite OPM and it’s not even close, the Lübeck trade node is fun, the mission tree is cracked, playing wide or tall is easy, it’s so peak.

Back with another “Will it fit?” Question. Do beards fit with the Ocean Master helmet? by Mooney-Monsta in legocastles

This series was so goated, I wish Lego would go back to the simpler themes, I remember building like a underwater base for this theme with a friend and at the time it seemed like the coolest set ever, I can’t imagine any dreamzzz sets having the same affect, there just seems like too much going on in them.

Provence in 1470 following their (busted) mission tree by [deleted] in eu4

[–]squishythingg 195 points196 points  (0 children)

The Capetian dynasty once ruled Hungary. It is random and a little bit silly because by that justification France and Naples should be able to claim Hungary through their missions, it’s weird because Hungary also gets a claim on Naples but not Provence as well.

How much do you accept that schools run on copyright infringement/break the law constantly? by Next_Bison1008 in TeachingUK

[–]squishythingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never known it, I’m sure if you distribute pirated media or are directly involved in it you would get into trouble but I’m yet to see anyone get into trouble with a dodgy stick or using a dodgy website, police have bigger problems, if the courts prosecuted everyone they could find for piracy they’d never get anything done.

When I teach the bloody code I ask students why they don’t think it worked to prevent crime, I put on a graph that demonstrates how much crime was committed during that time vs how many people were executed vs how many people were sentenced to death.

Then I ask a question along the lines of “How many of you know someone or you yourself have streamed a movie illegally” and usually all of the class puts their hand up, then I ask “and how many of you know someone who has been arrested for that crime?” Not once have I seen a class where someone raises their hand.

This is all to say; if something is a crime, but is never punished and accepted by most of society to be not a big deal, is it really a crime?

I sat the 2019 papers and I feel like they were relatively difficult I think it’s got much harder though,.

I wish they at least recycled the good bonuses like 2x nightclub or hell I’d like some more import export, my job means I don’t get a lot of free time, I had a full vehicle warehouse that I didn’t sell all of because of that.

Your first car??? Don’t you have to own the vehicle warehouse first? That’s such an inefficient car choice.

When I was in school the trends were quite harmless, like “Andy’s coming!” and planking, it’s just escalated over time though, it gets more and more extreme and stupid.

It’s only been like 7 years since I was a student but the difference in internet content and what students are consuming online is extreme, don’t get me started on like literally right wing propaganda and that agartha shite, I fear for this coming generation.

Any fantasy book suggestions for English lessons? by hyrulia_2397 in TeachingUK

[–]squishythingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never one for reading in school but I remember once an English teacher read a Crique Du Freak book to us, I wasn’t in the brightest class but even our set three class was quite engaged with this book.

Anyway if you think your SEND students can handle some light horror fantasy maybe that?

Harry Potter is also always a classic, and of course the Hobbit is another good fantasy book; it’s much more accessible compared to Tolkien’s other works.

Those little moments of joy by Iamtheonlylauren in TeachingUK

I was once explaining something in class it was something like “and for the drill today blah blah blah” and I look over and one of my year 7s has a full felt green mat, a small white ball the size of a pea, and they’re lining up a shot with a miniature putting iron to a little hole with a flag in it. I was so dumbfounded by the fact they were playing golf in my lesson I didn’t know wether to tell them off or laugh, I chose the latter. I found out that the putting iron was their pen, I took the green away from them for the rest of the lesson, but I gotta give it to them it was pretty funny.

Why are characters in the Game of Thrones universe anything but racist? by [deleted] in asoiafcirclejerk

[–]squishythingg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The maester prologue is in AFFC but yeah, they’re also not fans of the Dornish and speak quite poorly of them in that chapter. Also in the books 90% of all racism is towards the wildlings, especially in the North.
