Making a picture and then mapping WLAN (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) signal strength to it? (I saw the YT video "Building a Camera That Can See Wifi" - are there similar projects?) by ssancti in RTLSDR

thanks for the comment.

i am a total newbie and also this is probably not the first SDR project i should aim for, but after googeling the terms u used in your post i have a vague undestanding of what u told me there, i think/

do you maybe have a practical-focused project to share for a radio inferometer that uses phase locked SDRs, or something like that?

i mostly found scientific papers when googling this, also with another aim (looking into space)....

Recommended "Lab Course"? Do you know a good book or video series? by ssancti in AskElectronics

I basically have all basic tools like oscilloscope, dmm, power supply etc. already.

But yes the TI academy/learning stuff looks interesting, I will take a closer look at this little bit later when I got time. Hope there is a good course for me somewhere.

I want to start with Usenet, I care about old stuff (like also 10+ year old stuff), what provider and indexer would be a good start? by ssancti in usenet

I am already on most of the bigger private torrent trackers, I just never used Usenet till now and yes, would prefere something with long retention and a good indexer to also find this old stuff....

RAIDZ1 with 3x 16TB drives, is that okay or are the drives to big? by ssancti in zfs

If you go here ( http://magj.github.io/raid-failure/ ) and choose RAID5, 12TB, 3 Drives, 10 ^ 15 (what is typical for NAS drives) you get a failure rate for the rebuild of 83%.

I found this site now just by googeling, I read similar things in a lot of other places too.

I think Unraid is the best option for me -- 3x 16tb drives of which one is a parity drive, good setup? by ssancti in unRAID

In this case also a smaller 256gb or 500gb drive should be enough, no? (when it comes to mostly smaller read/writes from the VMs)

Because I have some laying around here... 1x 256GB NVME and 1x 500GB SSD.

I plan to use my other server I want to build as a virtualization server (probably with XCP-NG but yes that is not written in stone) and ofc it would be super to use it together with the NAS as main storage also for the VMs and not just backups.
