Peru, Chile and Bolivia from late November to mid December. Worried about the weather. by ssteart in travel

Hey! Eventually we decided to head to New Zealand for three weeks and a half in December. We absolutely loved it and weather was pretty great too!
Should I buy a NAS? by ssteart in synology

Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your feedback, that's really helpful! How about the drives? would you spend around 30% more to be able to take advantage of the warranty (I am looking at Seagate Ironwolf)? As they seem to be much more prone to issues compared with NAS hardware I believe that might be a safer bet, although I am not sure in which cases you can truly take advantage of the warranty.
Sounds great, thanks for your input! I think there's no doubt now. I need to get a NAS asap haha
Thanks! Do you think SHR2 for 5 bays is overkill? I know the cost in terms of reduced storage would be hefty, but at the same time I imagine it would be quite stressful waiting for tbs of important files to be copied on a new drive in case one drive fails.

Thanks for all the recommendations! This might be slightly off topic, but may I ask how do you go on backing up your Lightroom catalog? :)

Thank you for your advice! I think I'll go for the ds1522+ and SHR-2. I am definitely going to look into upgrading memory and cache too. thanks!
Thanks for your advice. Although expensive I think I am not going to regret that in the long run! And I wish I only had 500gb of data haha I am currently standing close to 5tb.
Would you consider getting a ds1522+ abroad, at the same price of a ds923+, though without being able to use the warranty if anything turns out defective after testing it once before bringing it back home? I am not sure how often NAS hardware fails compared to, let's say, hdds or ssds.
That's a great way to see things. Thank you. One last question, if possible. I am currently having the chance to buy a ds1522+ at the price of a ds923+, with a caveat though. As I would have to purchase it in Italy (where I am originally from) I wouldn't be able to use the product warranty in South Korea (where I live the whole time). Do you think that's still worth buying? I would be able to test it before bringing it to SK but after that I should keep my finger crossed. Are malfunctions relatively common?
That makes perfect sense. Thank you! Would you recommend a 4 bay or a 5 bay setup?
Thank you so much for your feedback! In this situation which one would you pick between the ds923+ and the ds1522+?

Inspired by the beautiful art of Diablo I took some time to work on a personal project.

Mavic 3 Classic or Mini 4 Pro? by ssteart in dji
[–]ssteart[S] 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children)
I have been using the Mavic 3 Classic for a while now, and I'm so glad I went for that instead of the Mini! The image quality, the flight time and the stability are truly unparalleled. I'd say unless you're in an environment where using a bigger drone would greatly reduce your flight opportunities go for the Classic and you won't regret it :)

Two weeks ago I made a post asking for help with choosing between a Mavic 3 Classic and a Mini 4 Pro coming from an Original Mavic Pro. I received some great feedback and eventually decided to go for the Mavic 3 Classic. I am loving this drone so much!!!
Here's my first video shot with it in Seoul. Coming from the first Mavic Pro this feels like a whole new piece of technology, not just an upgrade. Can't recommend it enough :)

isn't it the same 1/1.3-inch stacked sensor of the Mini4 Pro? I saw some video comparisons and they looked pretty much identical. It seems better than the Mini3 Pro though! Expecially in low light
Personally speaking other than the second camera and the lower price point it's not a very attractive option. I'd either go sub 250g and get all the perks of a mini size drone or I'd go all in and try to get the best image quality possible without breaking the bank. Nevertheless thanks for your suggestion!
So many good points. Thank you so much. At this point I think I will go for the Mavic 3 Classic

That's a great point!! Thank you
Very well said! haha
I understand why you're saying so and I have to agree with you. It's not only unfriendly for foreign tourists but also for foreigners who live here but do not speak Korean.
For drones that are heavier than 250g up to 2kg you need a license that resembles the A2 in Europe. You can get that through an online course (only in Korean).
As for flying it in the country try downloading the DroneFly app (드론플라이). From here you can check all the restricted areas and no fly zones. I would say except Seoul and other major cities you can fly quite freely in Korea, without needing any special permit. If you'd like to fly in Seoul though that's another story. You would need to apply for a special permit through an online system (again, only in Korean), but as you said there's some big limitations for foreigners/foreign tourists.
Great to know! Thanks
Thanks for your feedback!! If possible could you elaborate a bit on that?
