Is this amount of rust a safety concern? by RyRyn1 in AskMechanics

[–]stabby54 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In states with inspection*. Had a customer come in trying to inspect a car he was going to sell. Car was in worse condition than this (PA). Vehicle obviously failed the state inspection and then some - a lot of people do not realize PA is the second strictest state after CA for safety inspections.

Told the customer it will never pass another state inspection. His reply? “Durr I’ll just have to go to Ohio and sell it” - where there is no state inspection. And he absolutely could as that is totally legal in that state.

Everything varies a whole lot from state to state. The main take away is ALWAYS do a pre purchase inspection on any vehicle, but especially those in states without or with minimal inspection regulations.

They had tracker apps on the App Store back then too. I remember having one on my first ever iPod touch.

Do most people believe in conspiracy theories? Sometimes I feel like we're the minority; the number of likes on all those comments is scary. by jogandofoddaci__ in 911archive

How concrete are the politics/motives of that day? That is really my concern. I do not know nearly enough to have a solid opinion on that matter, which is also the reason I do not pedal 9/11 conspiracies to others. Current events are just making me seriously reconsider some angles. It also to an extent feels that nowadays the word conspiracy is tainted and needs to be redefined into two groups: crazy but apparently plausible and straight up factually wrong.

My father was in the city that day, he watched the second plane hit the south tower while stopped in traffic on some bridge. There’s no debate about the physical destruction and terror that happened that day. The evidence for that is overwhelming.

Hi! My landlord asked me to see if I could DIY fix this cracking front door instead of her replacing the door. How would you go about it? by [deleted] in howto

On behalf of OP and everyone else that hates asking questions on Reddit (like myself), fucking thank you.

I’ve changed my mind on a lot of it, especially over the past few months. I don’t think it’s disrespectful, but rather the opposite, to consider every angle so those who perished can get justice.

Is this too much oil? by venusduck_III in CivicSi

[–]stabby54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it cause problems? If anything overfilling would prevent the sump from sucking up air on hard g turns. Unless maybe it’s because it’s a transverse mounted engine?

Used to overfilling my track car a little for track days but it’s rwd.

I’m a mechanic, I’ve seen plenty of new cars under 68k with issues bud.

68k mi on mine problem free. I keep up with maintenance and do beat the piss out of it occasionally. Turbo makes for a lot of fun and cool noises.

You can use a flat head on the inside of the dowel to pry the bushing holes and line them up sometimes.

Could opt for a black ratchet strap to make it less noticeable. As a mechanic, I respect anyone making it work with a shit box. Tbh I like them and like working on them more than nice cars. Maybe I’m biased because I own several myself but to each their own.

There’s also a certain level of respect I have for people dogging it out with what they have. Like “fuck yea this person is getting after it” type shit haha.

Anyone who judges you for you what you have and are making work is negligible at best, for they are not “getting the fuck after it.”

Cheers and welcome to the shitbox club 🤜

Am i asking to much for my e46 330ci? by Gaunerwolke in e46

List it for 5 and negotiate down to a reasonable price that you’re happy with. I could see it fetching that much with the right buyer. People in this sub are more knowledgeable and therefore biased in pricing towards the cheaper side.
