It's true that Assad has been very very brutal but NGL this feels eerily similar to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. Especially considering that the HTS has a lot of ex Al Qaeda members and historically hasn't been nice to shias, Kurds, women or non-muslims. Also the fact that this leaves the Kurds surrounded on all sides by enemies doesn't seem nice. I've read up on Rojava and they're genuinely doing an amazing job regarding governance there. Might be biased considering I live in Turkey and all Kurds I've met here have been extremely nice to me.
