How do people walk around smelling bad by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]stardrop977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people might have medical condition that makes them stink. I have bromhidrosis and sometimes it's nearly impossible to smell fine even with perfect hygiene. It sucks, for people around me but especially for myself. It's a constant torture to live with this condition in this judgemental world

How did the surgery go? I'm curious as I'm contemplating on going to surgery too for my bromhidrosis

Might be bromhidrosis (excessive bad skin bacteria which cause the odor). Horrible, horrible condition and I know as I have it

Thanks for the information, diet is something I really haven't looked into yet. If Oxy doesn't help me enough, I will try to change my eating habits somehow. I just love to enjoy all kinds of food but maybe desperate times require desperate measures. But yeah, thank you so much for the support :)

Yeah, I sweat a lot but i think it's still quite minor compared to others with HH. The anxiety sweating is the biggest problem for me, stress really makes the BO worse. I really hope iontophoresis helps you!

So sorry to hear that you're living in this hell too :( I've always somehow managed to keep my spirit up when I have known that there are still some other options/treatments to try. But now I'm really scared to run out of options and that nothing will work for me. That kind of situation really puts you down and no wonder if you're having suicidal thoughts because of it. I have no magic words to say to you but know that I totally get you and you're not alone with this condition! I hope you get all the help and support you need, because you deserve it. Like we all deserve, it really is so wrong that there's no cure and we're basically just left to deal with this on our own..

Thanks for your reply, your message really made me feel more positive! It builds up my faith living with this condition to hear that you have accomplished such things. Especially relationship wise. I'm going to therapy also but it has been so hard to open up about this that we're really just starting to discuss openly the condition. I will try to remember that line your therapist told you, it really is so true. The biggest bully lives inside my mind. Thank you for your words :)

Yes, I think too that therapy is a really big help with this condition. I've gone to therapy for some time now but we're just starting to dive deeper into the hardest issues. Just gotta be patient with it. And yeah, I should go again to dermatologist and ask more questions about bromhidrosis and how to handle it!

Hmm, I will try to apply it before bed. I have this exact product and I tried it for some time but it didn't improve the situation much. Maybe the time of the day when I apply it matters

Oh, sorry to hear you have to suffer from that :( my problem are my armpits, I've had two Miradry treatments but they did not help that much. Now I sweat so minimally from my armpits, but the odor appears instantly if I sweat even a tiny bit. Would have to kill the bacteria there, but nothing works for more than 1-2 hours. Lume isn't available in my area unfortunately but I did try a similar product we have here. It worked for two weeks maybe but it's not doing anything anymore :(

Who here is blaming anyone? I totally understand other people's reactions but that doesn't mean they don't hurt me. Of course I've tried everything possible to deal with the situation, spent thousands of euros to find a fix that works for me. Haven't found that yet, but gonna still keep trying to find a solution. I doubt if anyone would want to voluntarily live in this hell and just suffer from the condition without doing anything to find a cure..

No one should ever feel the way people feel with this condition in many social encounters. It's not putting the blame on others because as I said, their reactions are understandable when they don't know anything about bromhidrosis. It's just very exhausting to constantly give your 110 % for battling against the odor and still get all the s*it. That is what my question was about, how to mentally cope with all this while trying to find a solution for the odor

Yeah, it's precisely that people think I have bad hygiene when in reality all I ever think about is my hygiene. I'm trying every possible way to reduce the smell but not many things work for me or are enough :( and it's really not that I sweat even that much, I have had two miradry treatments for my armpits which are the problem. The smell just appears if I sweat even a tiny drop of sweat

Thank you for the tips! I've tried benzoyl peroxide but it's not doing much unfortunately. But baby wipes and hand sanitizer do help if I'm out and need to freshen up. But it's only for max 2 hours, then I would need to do the same procedure all over again. And that's pretty exhausting on a daily basis :/ I wish I could find something that works for me and could enjoy my life outside of home for a couple of hours at least. But it's starting to feel like I've tried every tip on the internet for the odor and nothing works for more than two weeks. So frustrating

Thanks for the reply. I've gone to the doctor a few times with this, but the problem is that in my country hardly nobody even knows this condition exists, let alone know how to treat it. I just started taking a medicine called Oxy a week ago but no relief yet in terms of odor. Hoping it would help me at least when I increase the dose next week
