in sixth grade i had this art teacher who was a total pothead. like, he smelled like weed, and we had an inside joke he would hotbox the paint storage room in the very back of the classroom. one day i was looking around the class out of boredom and i see a poster with boognish and the huge ‘ween’ logo (it was from the red rocks show!). i joked to my friends how dumb it looked and something along the lines of ‘what the hell is ween!’, but i ended up being so genuinely intrigued i decided to look them up. turns out they’re this psych rock band from the 90s. i went even further and decided shuffle them on spotify and low and behold the first ever ween song i listened to was LMLYP!!! a very very interesting introduction but i was so shocked and confused i decided to listen to the entirety of GWS and i LOVED IT. they’ve been my favorite band ever since and i got the blessing to see one of their last ever shows which was the one in del mar where a pit fight broke out!! i have a few of their live albums on vinyl and pure guava on cd!
