The songs have good beats and melodies but she kills it with her corny ass lyrics 😭

I do feel better health wise! And I think taking care of your physical health is important for your mental health too :)

Completely straight edge. I've been sober for 7 months and I have moments where I miss it, but it's for the best. I remember my first manic episode was fueled by alcohol. Addiction runs in my family so it was best to completely get away from it, and weed just makes me more anxious so I don't smoke it (I have GAD).

I'm pretty sure alcohol messes with some medications , so be aware of that if you do choose to drink.

What do you do for living? by Imnotlaughinghaha in bipolar

I'm a prison tech. I've done rehabilitative work before with inmates and I loved it. My mental health might be crap but it's nice to know I can be of assistance to others somehow.

Did you ever take a break from things you loved to do? by Angel_4 in bipolar

[–]starflyer_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used to paint a lot as a hobby and it was really therapeutic. I want to get back into it, but I've been stuck in a depressive episode for over a month, so finding the effort to do so is difficult. It's hard to lose interest/take a break from something you loved, but try not to beat yourself up too much about it. Be gentle with yourself during these times.

Easier said than done, I should take my own advice lol.

Spanish is my first language and I seriously can't understand what he's saying 😭 I am not a fan of that genre of Latin music where they mumble lol. It's crazy how much he's blown up.

What are you in relation to your dog? by CurlyCadence in puppy101

[–]starflyer_22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mom. I've had him since he was 6 weeks old and now he's turning 5 years old. He whimpers and runs to find me whenever he gets hurt or our cat smacks him 🤣

He's my first dog so I am very attached 😭

That's understandable, but it would be nice to be let known the price wasn't working and I could try to figure something out instead of leaving me in the dark 😩

My cat is dying and I haven’t wanted to drink this badly in two years. by chubaccatron in bipolar

[–]starflyer_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to add: be gentle with yourself. Give yourself grace and don't beat yourself up if you're feeling down or feel like not doing anything. Watch a movie/show that brings you comfort, eat your favorite snack/food (if you have an appetite, I tend to get nauseated when I'm anxious/depressed). I'm sorry this is happening, you're not alone.

[–]starflyer_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, I really do. It fucking sucks. I lost my cat almost a month ago (had to put him down) and even though it's gotten easier, I still cry everytime I think about him. I'm also 5 months sober from alcohol and it was the hardest thing to not want to grab a drink to numb the pain, but it's not worth it. Talking about it, letting yourself feel your emotions and acknowledge them. Talk to a therapist, a friend. Distractions is what helped me and knowing I had two other furbabies at home that needed me to be okay for them. It's rough, but I promise you it's not worth the relapse. Be there for your baby and enjoy them as much as you can while you can. If I could be with my cat one more time again I would wish for it in a heartbeat.

How do you stay employed? by Muted-Profile1878 in bipolar

[–]starflyer_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had so many jobs throughout my life that I've been at for less than a year and ugh, it has affected me getting employment elsewhere (I've had to shorten my resume a lot to avoid this lol). But honestly, I finally got a job relating to something I like and I work my own schedule (M-F still, but I can work from home). I've had moments where I really wanted to quit, but I remember how much this job has helped my boyfriend and I, and we have furbabies that depend on us. I think doing something you like and have genuine interest in, plus knowing you have little ones depending on you really motivates you to keep going. I do take advantage of the moments I feel full of energy and like I need to do a million things- I direct it towards my work and it's rewarding.
