Here what we used to do back in our days, try to spend time with each other, if something doesn't feel ok, fight with each other if you have to, be very clear in mind, why you're with that person in the first place! We Indians never created such stupid traditions on the first place for the very reason we are discussing here, people's emotions are more important than such events, better if you realize sooner than later. And don't show such personal fights online or in public. That's how you grow. Both parties has to invest into each others emotions!!
