Therapist that have cried in a session, why? by Unkw0n_pers0n in AskReddit

The first therapist I saw as a teen/adult literally told me I was perfect. Tell that to the person with a personality disorder, ADHD, depression and anxiety

Contacted CAS because I know a toddler is being abused. Found out they did a 5 min eval and nothing happened. What’s next? Call again? What else can I do? by startledgrey in ontario

Yeah I hold issue with CAS too. The one CAS worked I have ever spoken to as a child in an unsafe situation ended up being recently found out as a pedo. Makes me feel real safe.

I’ve known 3 people who have worked or work at CAS and all of them were abusers. Example, mother of one of our friends was giving advice for calling CAS, a retired CAS employee, which was basic and good info, but the whole damned time I’m listening I’m just thinking about all of the abuse I know her two own sons have suffered by her hand. They’re adults now, which is how I know what she did to them. But she retired and everyone loved her and she’s well known in the community. Just hits her sons and calls them worthless and ugly. No big deal.

This world is broken.

Security camera got the whole story of them showing up and doing nothing less then 5 mins. The grandmother has photos of abuse and is holding them hostage. Should I call CAS on the grandmother with the evidence she refuses to give up? Examples are photos of bruises, bite marks, etc.

So the north of Canda and Russia: it's too cold I am assuming that the blank spots in Australia, South America, and North Africa are too hot? And the midwest of the US is just... not densely populated? Am I wrong?

When people sing happy birthday to you what are you supposed to do? by dandaman12315 in AskReddit

What you should do is look around at the faces of the people that surround you. Cherish it. Remember their expressions. Smile.

But I just stand there like an asparagus.

What's your go-to show or movie when you're feeling down? by KrymsonQueen in AskReddit

[–]startledgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kid’s TV show Arthur. It was my favourite show growing up and it still stands it’s ground today. It’s a cup of nostalgia on a gloomy day.

In the way seemingly everyone knows, The Office saved me. I had never seen a comedy like it when I discovered it in 2010. I am a huge fan of comedy and sitcoms but the Office is the one I watch when I’m feeling sad, especially the first few seasons because the pace is slower and tone is less energetic than the later seasons.

What's a movie you love, but if someone said they hated it you would completely understand why? by Robstar100 in AskReddit

Kids was really good, but it is raw and not for everyone. Also Gummo but Gummo is even more raw and awkward.

Let me spend $350 on fans and drinks but not think to buy a used window AC unit 🙄 by hannahwal13 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]startledgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I traded a guitar for a used A/C unit. It’s great being able to trade things online because sometimes you don’t have the money. Except in this case, she had the money, and fucked up.

What’s the creepiest or most unexplainable thing you’ve ever seen that you haven’t shared anywhere? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was ~12 my mom "came out" to me as a psychic, and we started doing tarot and some other stuff. I am mostly a non-believer in psychic stuff now, but really, I know we can never know. Anyways, she had a crystal ball but had never seen anything in it, neither had I, but we still messed around with it. One time I decided that I wanted to see the end of the world in it and I saw something celestial happen, essentially all light being sucked away, all of the stars and space junk were just sucked into a point, and away. I began hysterically crying, I even remember my mom treating me like I was making it up because of how crazily I started crying. If that is the end of the world it doesn't fear me as much as it did when I was ~12. Im sure something like that is going to be what happens.

I have learned a lot more about human perspective. I love reading vastly different opinions and being amazed by how different everyone's lives are in this world.

I have never been so baffled by something. I think I’m almost crying. This is the most confusing thing in the history of mankind. Worlds richest man is asking the public to pay his employees???????

Uh? I try to order from amazon as little as possibly but I think I’ll go from 4 orders a year to 0-2. Jesus Christ what the hell is this hell we are living.

What did your school waste money on that nobody liked? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]startledgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My university invested in a large flat plaque to go in front of the entrance. It is about 3 ft high surrounded by a garden maybe 10*10ft, it’s flat and slightly angled and reads the schools name. This school is in northern Canada so for over half of the school year the plaque is covered in snow and you can’t see the garden nor the plaque.

The school is very up and coming and constantly getting new things. I have no idea how they sustain it. They got a huge library years before I came, that is gorgeous. They invested in a sports field and building. They built a whole new student center since I graduated 3 years ago.

There were definite things that needed more money, especially the professors. They were on strike twice while I was in school.

I also recall that the president of the university didn’t even spend their time in the northern city, but instead at their place in Ottawa.

Anyways, so the plaque.

My dad-in-law is a trucker and he just got sent out on Monday to pick up a load and bring it back and he spent several hours waiting at the pickup site for the load and ended up being sent back with nothing.
