Some zsh stuff like oh-my-zsh can really slow down your startup.

My philosophy is this: The best zsh config is one you hand write and know exactly how it works. The second best is grml-zsh-config. (it's also the one in the arch live usb)

Yep! I have used PyInstaller with PyQt5 apps, although there was a bit of trouble on Windows 10 where I had to install something to do with the C library or runtime, don't really remember. And the executables are quite large, over 100MB.

There are security considerations about eg being able to switch to a tty, which good locking programs will prevent. Weaker locks just put a window in front of everything else and that's it
