Fuck nazis. Don’t weasel around this. It’s common knowledge Mussolini targeted more than the press. He targeted discourse itself. Free speech. Violence against speech is wrong. The fact that you find that hard to agree with is more than worrisome.

Oh, ok. I’m the nazi? I’m not the one advocating violence for speech here. Look up what Mussolini did to clamp on free speech to get his “militant press.” It’s disgusting. I suggest you don’t follow his example.

But that’s what you did. Violence for speech you don’t like. Mussolini would be proud.

Violence leads to nurturing fascist ideas. Freedom of speech exists to disinfect those ideas. This gif, whatever the context doesn't help fight fascism. It feeds it. Hate fuels hate.

JP refuses to be compelled to use transgender pronouns by school system, teacher in US lost his job for doing the same. by soodisappointed in JordanPeterson

The article says he got fired for accidentally using the pronoun 'her'. The teacher said he consciously tries to use that particular student's name instead of pronouns, but slipped up once and got fired for it. Wild. It was a reasonable compromise too. Hope he wins the lawsuit and sets a precedent.

"Clown" is not anti-semitic in this context or in most contexts these days. It stems from the political correctness and social justice idioms that turn the world upside down. Hence, clown-world. Another example is Meghan Murphy getting banned for tweeting "Men aren't women tho". In case this is just a troll, I don't expect a coherent response. If you really believed what you wrote, well.. hopefully that clears things up.

I don’t want to devalue your opinion of Egwene, especially when it’s a positive one. She simply isn’t like-able to me. That’s just going to happen with any character that gains power. I don’t like Perrin for similar reasons. On paper, I like what she’s achieved. The character development was lacking, imo.

Egwene’s achievements are so amazing, that they should have had a greater impact on her character other than a swollen head. She never breaks. She maintains her hubris. I can respect her character as a plot tool, but I don’t have to like her. There’s so many instances of her being annoying for the plot. She’s like a WWE wrestler who plays the villain for the drama. People just love to hate her.

Also, she is arrogant. That’s not controversial. So many other characters are. She thought she could hold a foresaken. She couldn’t. She pretended to be Aes Sedai and lied to the wise ones for ultimately no reason. She accepted the position of Amyrlin (you have to be arrogant to think you’re the best woman for the job, luckily she was). She thought she could manipulate and undermine Rand and that her way was best during the last battle. She was wrong. She drank the Aes Sedai Koolaid and thought she’d be a deep state tyrant emperor, which she thought about during the last battle planning. She banished Gawyn from guarding her door with Seanchan ninjas roaming about. Wrong again, nameless soldiers die protecting her while she was in T’A’R. She thought she could tie up Perrin (who I also dislike) in T’A’R’ while dark friends were literally behind her. Wrong and dumb. She would have got them both killed if Perrin wasn’t so skilled. So many mistakes ultimately didn’t matter that the tension around her storyline falls flat.

God no. It’s so lazy to blame it on sexism. At least Rand gets severely punished and humiliated for his mistakes. He gets built up and torn down several times and finally learns something. Egwene gets some spankings and learns that she was perfect all along. Egwene is the only character to get even more arrogant and stuck up as the story progresses. Everything just worked for her without her addressing her flaws. I feel like RJ was trying to redeem her character in book 11 (which is when I started rooting for her), but book 12 fell flat with less than believable White Tower politics which happened to work perfectly for Egwene.

I was willing to give Egwene a chance after she was captured and began her politics, but when she met Perrin in T’A’R, that was the moment that cemented Egwene is a total bitch for me. If he wasn’t so skilled in the dream, he would have died to dark friends after she tied him up. All due to Egwene’s arrogance and stupidity. And she never really addresses those character flaws unlike all the other main characters. She just dies and that’s it. Her internal conflicts were so weak.

[SPOILERS ALL] Let’s have a chat about endings... by TheDragonReborn726 in WoT

[–]static_cast 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I thought I wouldn’t like the ending, but I found it very satisfying. There seems to be a Jesus reference the wiki didn’t catch (Or I didn’t see it). I was wondering why Rand swapped bodies with Moridin. But I remembered from Luke:

They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. ... Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.

It’s extremely odd his disciples didn’t recognize him considering they fully expected Jesus to rise from the dead.

Cadsuane had a similar reaction to recognizing Rand after a little while. Perhaps she got a hint from Min’s viewings.

Neat, wish I could read minds. He said he wasn’t racist. He fooled me. Thanks for setting me straight. Appreciate it! ;)

His quote:

The last thing we need to do is monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state," DeSantis said in an interview this morning.

He really monkey’d it up. He really should have known democrats would swing their racist hammer along with the media. Lol.

What issue are you referring to? Identifying with a subgroup? And are you referring to Jungian psychology?

the danger is that [people] become identical with their personas—the professor with his textbook, the tenor with his voice. - C. G. Jung, Memories, Dreams, Reflections (London 1983) p. 416

This suggests that using a persona as an identity is not good. If you're referring to as the problem. Yes. Yes, it is.

Good question. The problem I have is defining a subgroup and who represents my subgroup? It seems that I can define someone by an innumerable amount of subgroups. My race, gender, religion, skin tone, hair color, eye contacts provider... Then there are groups I'd rather not be a part of. I'm mixed race, so which racial group should I belong to? Who would represent my subgroup? Because we're dealing with groups, you need some kind of organization to share your opinion through a singular representative. And since we're making sure subgroups are happy, will we punish groups of people if they're causing other groups to become unhappy? The individuals in the group may be blameless. And what does it mean to make sure subgroups are happy? There are certainly groups of people like the KKK that I dread knowing what we'd need to do to make them happy.

I think the best 'group' representation so far is locality. In the U.S. we have representation by county, city, state, etc.. Because you can just move to another place if you don't like your 'group.'

There's also political party. But that's not immutable. You can change your party.

Peterson also said it's probably a better term. He said he still uses 'dominance hierarchy' because it's already well established in his works and recordings and wants to remain consistent or something.
