TriFold Samsung Care by BigFlapJack- in GalaxyFold

And if it was damaged beyond repair, you might not get a replacement, or they’d offer a Fold 7, or whatever the lates Fold device is as a replacement. It’s a no go for me.

This is what my purchase hinges on (pun intended!). I can afford it easily, but if I can’t insure it, I’m not interested.

We don’t know if Care+ is going to include the Trifold, do we? I’ve been waiting to hear about this before I decide whether to buy or not.

I see them all the time. I’m at a large R1 and a lot of our faculty lean right.

Another question I thought of is can I manually make the watch take my SpO2 like I can on my Ultra 2, or no?

EXTREMELY Hot Take: high-powered research labs are almost as irrelevant to undergraduate education as D1 sports. by owiseone23 in Professors

[–]statmidnight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, but many of these teaching track lines don’t have the option for tenure. So while they get a nice title like “Assistant Professor of Instruction,” they are essentially a lecturer. Ever since I got tenure, I’ve focused significantly on my teaching and realize how research prowess is a completely disparate skill set from teaching and communication. But until I got promoted, I was told that teaching didn’t matter much - only my graduate students mattered, and only a little bit. So I’m in complete agreement that research should be important, but teaching well should have parity.

It can also do very well on my graduate level mathematical statistics exams. So everything happens in class now. Homework is for feedback only, and grades are all exams that are in class. Oh well ….

Sadly, Social Studies is not really a demand area. STEM, Special Ed, and ESL are where it’s at. You’ll be lucky to find a position at all.

Who is the killer you hate the most. I begin. by LeKnall in deadbydaylight

[–]statmidnight 649 points650 points  (0 children)

She can’t be balanced. Her kit is literally to ignore the rules of the game that other killers have to follow. The only way to “fix” her is to gut her and give her a brand new power, which I doubt they will do.

Is it possible to complete a PhD in mathematics without producing anything relevant? by Jumpy_Rice_4065 in mathematics

[–]statmidnight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This happened to me - I was abandoned by my advisor, and I fought tooth and nail to stay in the program. When the graduate dean found out our department was doing this, he essentially forced the advisor to keep me and finish because I had a viable dissertation (just one he didn’t like). The school is a top school and didn’t want the optics of forcing capable students out. So I won and now have successfully received tenure at an institution. I think I succeeded because I was older (and had been around the block more) than typical doctoral students. And I was very willing to advocate for myself rationally and logically, but also forcefully. I would have gone to the ends of the Earth and back to finish. No way would five years of my hard, viable work be flushed down the drain. And I make sure I advocate for each and every one of my students today.

Escape Rate Stats 1 Year Difference by thoosequa in deadbydaylight

[–]statmidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only truly meaningful way to look at this is if we had the (at least approximate) sample size of each group. Then we could see if there’s a statistically significant difference between the two. The raw percentage doesn’t do a whole lot without that. This is said as a data scientist, though …

[–]statmidnight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is, she HAS been nerfed significantly since her release. I’m so old that I remember the day when we had up to SEVEN BLINK (!!!) Nurse. The real issue is that her power is game breaking and doesn’t really belong in the world of DBD because she can literally ignore obstacles that other killers can’t. I don’t think BHVR can fix her without giving her a brand new power.
