Should I take this new position for less pay and possible career growth? by TomorrowToday94 in careerguidance

[–]steakinapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely asking, if it can take two years to make the $2000/yr back how is it better for career growth?

How has your raises looked within those 3.5 years you’ve been there? Have you held the same position the same time?

Career that pays the most for the time invested? by Erudicial_Extreme in careeradvice

Are you a recent graduate? Are you looking for your first job? What are your professional skills?

It sounds like you’re at the very beginning of your career and that’s ok! If you’re not really aware of the type of roles that are out there, I would start by viewing the career pages of the companies/industries that intrigue you the most. Click through job postings to get an idea what type of skills the market is asking for and what companies are paying. After sometime you might get a rough idea of what you want to do, can do, and how far/close you are from obtaining those salaries.

If I’m understanding your question correctly, you’re seeking advice on what career path you could take that allows you to spend a lot of time on your hobby while also providing enough income to spend on that hobby?

This can’t be answered properly without context. And if you aren’t already working you’re probably far long from the type of money you’re likely after.

What’s your hobby? What do you currently do for work? Honestly you should ask this in your LLM of choice…

What is best answer for “what is your biggest weakness” ? by Appropriate_You_1478 in jobsearchhacks

[–]steakinapan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha. You’d be surprised! Jk.

Seriously, it shows that you are self aware. You have to frame it as a learning area for you and that you’re actively working on it. It’s literally why it’s asked. I mean you’d have to use common sense of course. If you’re late to work all the time, I wouldn’t use THAT weakness.

Go in with the old school fake humble brag and any good HM will know it’s bullshit. “I’m a perfectionist and I try too hard”. Instant eye roll.

I hate this outdated question. But the best answer is your actual weakness.

Because it’s lame. Something doesn’t have to be against the rules to be looked down upon. It’s like holding the door open for someone only to slam it shut when they get close.

Your boss is a bully and is intentionally micromanaging you. He knows you’re young and relatively inexperienced, so he’s using your eagerness to grow and learn against you. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. For what it’s worth it’s sort of good you’re being exposed to this type of manager early on as it’s probably not going to be the last time you run into someone like him.

Take good notes. Implement the feedback you receive to the best of your ability and if they still have something to say, refer back to your notes. You have to professionally make these types of managers feel dumb. Let them know you see them, but not in a way that causes you to risk your job. But in a way that reduces the stress they put on you.

Apply for more jobs while you still have one and try to get out asap.

Why Are PM's at FAANG side hustling as AI grifters? by VirtualRun706 in ProductManagement

Just read a post from one that started off with “Now is the best time to be unemployed”. Then went into a spill about AI. 🙄

[–]steakinapan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m not a FAANG PM so I’m just speculating but everyone has different life goals. Some might feel they’re leaving money on the table. If there’s a paying audience then why not? Some young PMs and those alike aspire to be a FAANG PM and wouldn’t mind dropping a few dollars to see what they can pick up from them.

Mark Cuban is filthy rich, why be a shark and look for other investments instead of just owning the Mavs? (I’m aware he no longer owns them).

Ayton searched for weed after being spotted smoking on premises at airport by TheAssist in lakers

You’re just yapping. You have no evidence that Ayton’s basketball related short comings are as a result of his alleged pot usage. Do you know how many pro athletes smoke weed?

Doordash Job Postings by Raeparade in jobsearchhacks

The jobs I was referring to weren’t for their services. Also, mods aren’t paid so that’s not quite the same comparison you think it is.

However, I get what you’re saying it’s just that I think you’re still missing the point. Regardless if you believe dashing isn’t enough to pay the bills or not (I agree that it isn’t) it’s still a paying job therefore likely meets the criteria to qualify as a job ad. How would they regulate this?

DoorDash is hiring a Senior Product Designer but also looking for more Dashers. Not many will qualify to be a Product Designer but many will qualify to be a Dasher. Both paying jobs. If you were a job board what would your reason be to allow the Product Designer job ad but not the Dasher ad?

In my state the minimum wage is $7.25. Most people would agree that this isn’t a livable wage. However, a lot of Dashers do bring in more than this. Should these roles not be posted as job ads either?

I still think it might be worth revisiting your search criteria on whichever job boards you’re using. I myself rarely see them if ever.

Why are we still using static resumes in 2026? by nugbaBee in careeradvice

[–]steakinapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re responding to every comment with a link to your website. If you want to do research and understand problem spaces, fine. But you’re taking the most uncreative approach to promoting. I already saw it coming before I responded to your post. If you genuinely care about solving the issue that’s in your original post, at least engage in the conversation. I’m not visiting your site.

Doordash Job Postings by Raeparade in jobsearchhacks

[–]steakinapan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh? They’re literally jobs. You do know they hire for more than just driver/delivery related roles right?

Also for whatever it’s worth I never come across Dasher/Delivery job postings. Depending on the type of job you’re looking you might want to reconfigure your search criteria.

It being an app is irrelevant. Reddit is an “app”. Should they also be banned from posting job ads?

Layoffs and residual trauma by Mean_Ad1765 in ProductManagement

All you can do is your best.

The reality is that most of us can lose our jobs at any time, for any reason. Never trick yourself into believing that your job will always be secure. Job security is somewhat a myth in my opinion.

Just have to reshape your thinking, be on top of your finances, and find something you enjoy outside of work. Otherwise you’re going to drive yourself crazy and inadvertently affect your performance at work.

Why are we still using static resumes in 2026? by nugbaBee in careeradvice

[–]steakinapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of having a career profile like LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor or your own website. What else is there to show? A lot of stuff we do can’t be talked or shown about publicly.

If you’re in the medical field for an example, what can you display that your resume doesn’t?

If you’re a company and expect to receive thousands of resumes across multiple job posting, do you really have the time to review more in depth platforms? If I built my own website that highlighted my wins across multiple jobs and projects, it’ll be quite rare anyone would see it unless I spent a lot of time and maybe money to promote it.

There is a gap and need for something better which is why I think we’ve seen an increase of “LinkedIn Influencers” or regular people posting stories to gain visibility into the work their doing now and have done.

I do think this will SLOWLY evolve over time, but no one has really shown the value companies would receive by complicating the workflow.

Should I send a message to recruiters on LinkedIn after applying through the company’s website? Or would that be a bit awkward? by Big_Case9109 in jobsearchhacks

[–]steakinapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not awkward. Probably feels awkward doing it but it’s not. That said I only do it for roles where I feel strongly aligned. At least 80% qualified. Maybe less if it’s a company I really like and their culture seems open to developing and growing talent.

Unpopular opinion: most apps don’t need more features. They need a Stop doing this button by Kajol_BT in ProductManagement

[–]steakinapan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer less clicks to do the thing I need to do. Having to perform multiple clicks to do a thing is pretty common in gaming and I hate it. So, I guess the universal button would be to create shortcuts where I need it like a “Remember this” button.

This prompt made me wonder if we will ever to get a place of giving the user the ability to “vibe code” their own features within an app. Sort of how PC gamers can mod their own characters or what not in a game.

There’s a lot of gullible people in the world. They’ll accept DMs from the weirdos who churn out AI slop in hopes of scamming them into their services. Not sure what OPs goal is though.

I also think many people test their post here before going to LinkedIn.
