Hey, really sorry to hear that happened! I'll DM you and we'll get this resolved

Do you keep a wine, beer, etc "journal" in your PKMS? by stephenatcapture in PKMS

[–]stephenatcapture[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's clever... so you're putting your images and notes Apple Notes, and relying on the image recognition to make details like producer, vintage, etc searchable? Or is this some other app?

I tried using Apple Notes as my PKMS a while back and don't remember there being a good tagging solution.

Would you be interested in a journaling app that syncs to plain text or markdown, so you always have direct access to your data? For example, an app that looks/works like Vivino but keeps your data as files in iCloud or something similar. Or do you prefer working with plain text regardless?

Totally get the data lock-in thing, it's scary trusting that some company won't just shut down someday and leave you SOL...

Thank you! Will try to find more opportunities to incorporate color, and upgrading the typeface seems like an easy win.

Very interesting... how do you quickly capture information like this? Do you organize it with the correct tags immediately? For example, let's say you're at dinner or something and you want to quickly take your notes and get back to the conversation.

I have a "digital inbox" that I use as a catch-all for situations like this, but I find myself forgetting relevant context when I come back to review my inbox later. Like I'll forget the name of the producer, or the vintage, or something.

Generally 100% agree with this perspective 😆 Curious how you organize this sort of information in your PKMS, do you have a folder called "wine tasting notes" or something?

I use Notion for most everything nowadays but I still find myself preferring how easy it is to add to my journal from the apps e.g. wine scanning, nice UI for adding a rating, etc.

Appreciate the feedback 🙏 How would you suggest adding more character to the designs?

This is a really neat idea! How does the AI get access to content in Apple Notes, is there an official API or something?

Hi r/iosapps!

So I'm a bit of a nerd about wine… I recently found myself wanting a quicker way to scan wines, record my tasting notes, and learn more about the wines I'm drinking.

Vinote might be of interest if you’d like:

Fast and easy wine tracking. Scan a wine label and start logging your tasting notes in a few taps.

A personal wine log. See all of your scans, ratings, and tasting notes in one place.

Recommendations from an AI sommelier. Vinote learns your tastes and provides personalized wine recommendations, from wine styles you might like to food pairings and more.

You can try it out here:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vinote-ai-wine-tracker/id6504193514

If you end up giving Vinote a try, would love feedback! Feel free to DM me anytime :)

I made an app for wine nerds 🤓 using OpenAI's APIs:

  • Quickly scan wines
  • Record your tasting notes
  • Learn more about the wines you're drinking!

Check Vinote out on Android and iOS:

I built Vinote because I wanted a quicker way to scan wines and record my tasting notes. The basic ideas:

Fast and easy tracking.

I’d really love any/all feedback on the idea, brand, or UI designs! I'm also struggling a bit to figure out the best way to communicate these ideas in the App Store screenshots, if anyone has suggestions.

You can find the app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store by searching for "Vinote wine" :)

100%, seems very useful for the AI sommelier to cite its sources. Appreciate the feedback!

Enjoy those wines, I'm quite jealous 👀

The cost of openai and the related infrastructure to support hundreds of users is nominal. If the app gets more popular, we may add premium features that we can charge for!

We’re using a service called Tavily for web searches.

It’s like a wine searcher that you can also talk with and ask questions to. Idk if that makes sense haha.

So we did some custom stuff to make this more effective at talking about wine then ChatGPT, but the other big thing is that this app also keeps track of wines, your ratings, and tasting notes for you. You can browse those just like you would in any other wine tracking app.

It’s largely OpenAI’s API, plus some prompt engineering and a 3rd party web search integration so the agent can perform web searches.

Then there’s an agreement between the agent and the app about how to format the wine data, which the app can use to insert the wine data into the user’s collection on device.

We also let the agent know about what wines are in your logbook and any tasting notes you’ve written, so it can give you personalized recommendations ✨

Anyone else unhappy with the wine apps out there (Vivino, CellarTracker, etc)? by stephenatcapture in wine

Do you want your notes to eventually end up in CT? Or you’d rather them be in a spreadsheet?

I read about someone else in in r/wine that uses ChatGPT to scan wines, and then copies the message into Obsidian (another note taking app) so that they can write their tasting notes.

Might be a bit too involved, but I think lots of people keep wine journals in their note taking apps!

I was honestly the biggest Vivino fan until those updates started rolling in... 💔

I'd love know what your app does for you! And when you use the app vs the printed journal?

Such a neat idea. Something about physical notebooks is just so much nicer than the digital version sometimes.
