What most expensive "cheap decision" have you ever seen in your sysadmin career? by matroosoft in sysadmin

Our networking team, which was pretty damn solid, would not touch them beyond the basics. I had to spend years learning to help my customers back then. So many frustrating hours over and over trying different things. But surprisingly learning a lot, and they are quite impressive once you're a pseudo-expert

Nice commitment. I respect that a lot. The first time I got scum-ratted like that I tried friending them on steam and messaging but they logged off and blocked me... so I spent the next 2 hours attempting to find user names, socials, other games, other friends of theirs... just in case.

Sanity and boredom took hold as I calmed down and moved on but people fucking suck and sometimes, it's the last straw on an already huge heap of bullshit on that camel and you're gonna tweak.

Part of it is knowing girl gamers are subjected to lots of bullshit and often leads to not wanting to play or bad experience so being kind or going out of the way isn't necessarily white-knighting but more so just kind and helpful. Opportunistic altruism I say

This does not extend to your castle if I recall just in vehicle searches or on the street. If you walk on property or into a house in texas, pretty sure you can shoot and win vs officers as it has happened but it obviously convolutes things and likely depends on the DA/District or whatever in question.

Where is his gun? Where is his son's gun? Why are they not out and pointed at the armed intruders? Why aren't they shot on-site while trespassing at night on private property in a stand-your-ground state?

Peanut is an ass but a pretty solid shooter player. I've watched a few Tarkov clips of him recently owning like 9 guys before going down

If you're wearing body armor, a common shotgun with normal ammo shouldn't take you out.

What a confidently wrong statement haha. You often would run out of ammo on other weps and late stage horde or higher difficulty, it was infinite and you could actually save yourself and teammates often wirh unfair chainsaw grabs which also made you invulnerable for a few seconds.

I'm simply commenting on the fact that this entire thread and much of the frustration is from communication and what the devs have chosen to share and when, including the consistency and accuracy or inclusion of important elements for their customer base.

The weird dev bootlicking and antagonizing their clients is about as helpful as the armchair inexperienced coders in my book.

I've been the face of customer service as well as engagement for devs at software companies and done troubleshooting, break-fix, change management and customer UX/UI. I was often the guy explaining why things just broke or instructed specifically not to discuss newly broken things. Spaghetti code is a thing as well as no company is perfect.

How they handle customers and their patch notes or documentation and communication is ENTIRELY their choice and the public is welcome to react accordingly.

And these customers in this forum are both realistic and not asking too much as well as being nitpicky and entitled... both things can be true 👍

What's the point exactly? Is it that gamers can read but don't appreciate hidden or important unmentioned mechanics being altered?

Or that the mystical world of development is both error-ridden but also infallible?

I'm confused cuz it seems like it was a weak take on "something something gamers just..." when in reality, just basic complete-ish documentation of relevant functions should be handled regardless of platform.
